Graduating from college means many things for different students. Some go off straight to graduate school, some go straight to work, and some take some time off to travel or do other things we’ve put off for the sake of education. But, regardless of plans for the coming year, there are certain thoughts we all have going through this year when we realize we are going to be done with something we have been doing for the last 4 years.

1. What the heck am I going to do next year?

With that graduation date inching closer, you will inevitable be asked what your plans are after graduation. And its stressful af…like, I’m just trying to get through semester and actually graduate.

2. I need an internship

If graduating means pursuing full-time employment and actually working and putting your degree to good use, many of us will have to find an internship and get some work experience in our field of study.

3.GRE/LSAT/MCAT/whatever else

Senior year, or the summer before, is usually when graduate school bound seniors take the GRE or whatever other exam they need to take to apply to grad school. And if you want a competitive score, then you were probably studying for this exam for about a year. So, yeah…stressful.

4. Loans

Since many college students don’t have access to grand sources of incomes, many take out loans. And it’s pretty hard to ignore the fact that this time next year, those loans will have to start being repaid. Oh the joys of education.

5. Research

If you are trying to go to grad school, especially at a UC, you no doubt are aware that research experience is very important. So, this is another source of anxiety for students on top of everything else.

6. Letters of Recommendation

Again, if you are trying to go to grad school, you’ll need letters of recommendation and the process itself is pretty stressful. Hopefully you made stellar connections with professors or GSI’s, because you’re going to need them…

7. Job Search

Graduating from college can mean going straight into the workforce and actually putting your degree to use. This comes with big decisions: What area will I apply for jobs in? Do I go back home? Do I know exactly what job I want?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
