Waking up in the morning is a drag, but you can wake up feeling better with a little help from music. I gathered a list of seven songs that are perfect and will make your morning so much better!
1. "Good Morning Baltimore"
Let us start this off with a classic. This show tune is from the iconic musical "Hairspray", and it is the perfect song to help you get up in the morning. This is a song literally about waking up in the morning and how great the day feels. You just cannot help getting a warm feeling when you listen to this song after you get a full night's rest. Plus, the beat and the melody is great to get you pumped. It is great for walking as well. You do not know the countless times I walk to college and have been caught dancing to this on the sidewalk. The song is just good for the morning time and good for putting a little pep in your step. P.S. the Saxophone within the first five seconds will surely wake you up.
2. "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow"
I know this is another show tune, but this song deserves to be on this list. If you do not know this song you are either too young or you are living under a rock. It is from the popular award winning musical "Annie." Even though the song is a little drab, in a sense, and should be listened to after a long day. In a way, the song is about hope for tomorrow. What I am trying to say is that listening to this when you wake up gives you this feeling of hope that your day is gonna be fine. This song is a great motivational song to get you through your day, especially when you have to work or if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
3. "Good Morning"
This is going to be the last show tune, I swear. This song comes from "Singing in the Rain." I have only seen this musical once in a class at my elementary school. I loved the movie and the soundtrack so much I could not forget it since then. Now, I have picked this song for two reasons and neither of them is because the title is literally "Good Morning." Number one, it is an iconic song, and it is very upbeat. Number two, it is played on every single hotel alarm clock. You cannot escape the wake-up call with this song in those rooms, but you are sure to wake up positive. The tune is so catchy it may get stuck in your head, you are welcome.
4. "Viva La Vida"
This one is very personal to me. Just hearing the sound of horse hair striking the G and D string together just fills me with emotion. The string, the piano and the beat just fill my void (AKA my room) with blissful harmony. Waking up with this song just gives me life, especially on days where I feel too depressed to get out of bed. I know the lyrics have nothing to do with waking up, but this song really gets to me. The title means "long live life", and the song is about a king who lost his kingdom due to a revolution. It gets to me, and that is why it is on the list. Plus, it is by Coldplay, and who does not like Coldplay?
5. "Walking On Sunshine"
This is musical humor, and I felt like being punny, so lighten up. This is just like number one; it is peppy and has positive tones to it. Another song perfect for those morning walks and that morning routine like the ones in the movies. Plus, this song goes great on a sunny day. It is literally like you are walking on sunshine. Ha, I can go on with the puns. So I am going to stop while I am ahead. Fun fact this song was from the 1980s and was featured in the movie "Walking On Sunshine" both new and old.
6. "Happy"
OK, Pharrell Williams' "Happy" always gets me in a good mood. If you do not start your day happy it can be harmful to the people around you and yourself. You cannot help but feel how should I put this, happy when listening to this song. Unless you listen to the sad version by The Gregory Brothers on Youtube. All in all, this is a perfect song to listen to in the morning.
7. "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"
Finally, we are at this song. This old song will sure add some hilarity to the wee hours of the morning. The first three seconds and I roll out of bed laughing...literally, but that is a story for another time. This song is also played on those motel wake up calls but is less common than "Good Morning" from "Singing in the Rain." This song does the job when it comes to morning music. I do not know why the 80s sound is great for waking up, but it is the third song with the 80s vibe to it. P.S. If you have seen the original video of the singers facing you, you will see what I mean about being hysterical.
