7 Signs You Grew Up In A Close Family

If you grew up in a close-knit family, they mean the world to you. Nothing will ever replace them and your love for them will never falter. There are several ways to know you came from this type of situation. Here are 7 signs that you grew up in a close family.

1. Moving away was full of tears

Going away to college meant your family was torn apart. Being separated from them was one of the hardest things you had to go through because you could not imagine waking up and going about your day without them by your side.

2. Coming home is always exciting

It does not matter if you were just home the weekend before, getting to see your family is always so exciting. Just coming home to their smiling faces and open arms makes the hustle and bustle of college life just kind of melt away.

3. You would rather hang out with them

No matter how old you were, hanging out with your family was way more fun than hanging out with your friends. A simple night in with a movie and popcorn was always more appealing than a party down the road. Your family has a way of making you comfortable and have the most fun doing anything.

4. Your mom or dad is your best friend

If you spent your life telling people your mom or dad or even sibling is your best friend, then you grew up in a very close family. The fact that the idea of an outsider knowing your secrets would make you nervous just shows how much love and support lies within your own home.

5. You call your mom every day

The one person you can guarantee you will talk to every single day is your mom. You call her when you get out of class, when you get home, before you go to work, on your drive home, and before you go to bed. Your heart is deeply broken when she does not answer or is at work and cannot talk. She is the first person you tell all of your days events to.

6. Your parents will always be "cool"

Growing up, your parents were always considered to be "cool". No matter if it was a birthday, a sleepover or even a party, everyone always wanted to hang out at your house with your parents. The best thing about it was that you agreed. In your eyes, no one had better parents than you did.

7. They will always support you

You came from a close family if your biggest fans are your family members. No one will ever love and support you quite like they do. Most of the time, their encouragement is the only thing that keeps you going and striving to make them proud. They will always take your bragging rights as their own.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
