7 Signs You Are Ready For Fall

Hands down the best season.

7 Signs You Are Ready For Fall

I know it's still August, and most people are still trying to enjoy the last of the dog days of summer. The very thought of back to school commercials and seeing the beginnings of Halloween decorations in stores shakes some people to the core, but to the select few, these sights are the beginnings of the best season of the year.

Autumn. Fall. Whatever you call it, the glorious season after summer is when we thrive. Warm coffees, the crisp scent of leaves, the beautiful shades of orange, red and brown dotting the trees and finally a break from the sweltering hell that is any temperature above 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you are anything like me, here are some things you might do in anticipation for fall

1. Walk into stores as early as the end of June looking for boots.

I know it's like super early in the season, but booties are hella cute, and I'll be damned if I don't have a new pair to rock out with my skinny jeans and copious amounts of sweaters. Speaking of sweaters:

2. Start breaking out the sweatshirts.

There is a whole world of sin cozy sweatshirts, long cardigans, over sized sweaters and a drapery section's worth of scarves can cover up. Plus, there is nothing better in the world than walking around in what is basically a blanket.

3. Celebrate that the days are getting shorter.

In the beginning of June it would still be light out at 9:30 p.m., but slowly you can notice that the days are slowly getting shorter, allowing for cooler nights. On top of the fact that the second best day of the year is in autumn, and I'm not talking about Thanksgiving or Halloween, I'm talking about setting our clocks back an hour.

4. Seeing the color maroon fills you with excitement.

I'll take one of each, thank you.

The demure and toned down colors of fall bring out the subtle beauty in everything. Everyone looks good in the dark blues, maroons, browns, burnt oranges and the dusty rose colors.

5. Going out of your way to find changing leaves

To some extent, the thought of leaves eventually losing their chlorophyll, slowly dying and withering away doesn't sound like the best thing on paper, but the light crunch of leaves under your feet, and seeing the swirling colors living in one leaf is an awesome feat of nature. Plus, my Instagram sort of just becomes and a tribute to all the pretty trees on my campus during autumn.

6. Seeing weekly forecasts with temperatures overnight less than 70 degrees

No more are the nights of shifting uncomfortably between sleeping with a blanket, without it, with the A/C on, or just a fan, and waking up in a puddle of your own sweat. Finally the nights where you can sleep comfortably under a giant fluffy comforter will arrive.

7. Overwhelming joy for seeing anything and everything pumpkin

Oh, don't think a list about all the wonderful things about fall would not include at least one mention of the wonder flavor that is pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, pumpkin muffins and everything pumpkin spice flavored, from coffee to cookies.

So bring on the fall. My body is ready.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
