Peachtree City is located south of Atlanta and, to most people, it is known as the place where people drive golfcarts everywhere. However, to me and many others, it is home. Here are a few signs that you are from Peachtree City:
1. It's not weird to you that golfcarts are the main source of transportation.
Golf carts are Peachtree City's claim to fame. We drive them everywhere—school, grocery store, football games, but rarely to the actual golf course. Our parking lots have special spots for golf carts, and there are mini stop signs all along the 100 miles of golf cart paths.
2. Majority of the people you know work for Delta or American Airlines.
Peachtree City is home for many pilots and their families, and it's normal to hear that a family is going to some exotic place just for the weekend. Since the families of pilots get free flight privileges, many can set off to New York for the weekend or Cambodia for spring break.3. There is a Chick-fil-a on every corner.
There are three Chick-fil-a restaurants within 10 miles of each other, and people have to label them. For example, the one in south Peachtree City is also known as, "Starr's Mill Chick-fil-a. It is safe to say that Sunday is very sad day in Peachtree City.
4. Everything closes at 10.
Everyone knows that if it is past 10 at night don't plan on going anywhere or doing anything because everything will be closed. Waffle House and Kroger are about the only things still open past 10.5. Fourth of July is the most important holiday.
Peachtree City was voted in the top six most patriotic cities in the US. Between the golf cart parade and fireworks at the lake, it is safe to say that 4th of July is one of Peachtree City's favorite holiday.
6. High school rivalry is a big deal.
Every high school has their rivalry, but none is as big as Starr's Mill and McIntosh's. There is a clear divide between the two and regardless of the sport, when the time comes for the two to play each other there are seas of blue and green flooded the stadium. (Go Panthers!)
7. Your hometown is also known as the "bubble."
Everyone knows each other and you can't go out to eat or to the store without seeing someone you know. This has its ups and its downs. On one hand, everyone knows your business and on the other you have many people who care about you.
Because of this place, I have a stronger love for my country, Chick-fil-a, and my high school alma mater. Peachtree City is an odd place, but I couldn't imagine calling any other place my home.
