7 Signs You Are the Mom Friend

Taking care of your friends is top prioirty. You love them like family, and know that sometimes they act like children, and you need to make sure they are safe. You are willing to do anything for them. There's always a mom friend, and your friends trust you for help with their life. You are going to take care of them whether or not they like, and eventually you can just calm them down with snacks.

You always have snacks

Most people associate the mom friend with the snacks. Usually something small you can give your friends in a pinch, but you also take people to get food when necessary. I personally carry fruit snacks and granola bars with me whereever I go either for me or for my friends. Mom friends are experts at sneaking snacks in anywhere they go just so that way they can save their friends money.

You are great at finding sales, deals, and coupons

Your friends never spend unneeded money. Whether it's suggesting an alternative when grocery shopping to save your friend $3 or making food at home instead of going out (again) or sneaking food places so you can avoid spending any money at all. Many mom friends take on the protective, budgeting personality of our own moms, reminding others that just because you have the money does not mean you should spend it now (hello, rent payments?)

You are almost always willing to be the DD

While having fun is important to you, it's not as important as taking care of your friends. You tend to be willing to give up partying for your friends to be able to have a good time. And you are willing to be the DD even at 3 in the morning when your friends went out without you. You tendc to tell your friends to call you for a drive any time they go out.

You can't go to sleep until your friends tell you they are home safe.

Some mom friends don't always have time to go out with their friends, but they will never stop their squad from looking fierce and heading out. But there is always one caveat with letting your friends go out with you: They better tell you that they made it home safely. I do it with all of my friends, and I sit outside when dropping them off until I see them go inside. Mom friends stay up worrying if they lose contact with their friends while they are out, and feel nothing but relief when they get the text that they are safe.

You are always willing to drive or walk with someone

It's important that you take care of your friends, and one of the number one rules is never, ever letting your friend go somewhere alone. You usually frown upon your friends paying for an Uber or taking a bus when you and your car are nearby to protect them. You are willing to go out of your way to walk with your friends and get them somewhere safe when necessary. No woman walks alone when you are around (you don't even need to know them to walk with them).

You always remind your friends to bring a jacket

But still give yours up when they inevitably forget. That's why you are prepared with a sweater underneath your coat to keep your friends warm. And there's always a blanket in your car. You tell your friends to bring gloves and a hat, and tend not to leave until they bundle themselves up. In the Midwest, you need to be prepared for every season, which means they need to be layering up because if you start cold you may end up hot in a few minutes.

You give the best advice

People come to you for advice on everything, knowing that even when they tell you that they are going to do the opposite of what you suggested, you give your undying support either way. You tend to be the most level headed and your goal is to get your friends back on trawck no matter what. They may not like your advice but they know that it tends to be the best advice that they'e gotten. It may not be their first choice, but it keeps them safe.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
