Growing up as a millennial meant that we can classify ourselves with things other than the term "millennial", such as our astrological sign, our college, or our Hogwarts House. Harry Potter became a large part of many lives, giving people an escape to the magical world of Hogwarts. And people who couldn't find the best way to describe themselves finally found a "House" that they can finally connect with. From the cunning Slytherins, to the loyal Hufflepuffs, to the clever Ravenclaws, we all have a place in Hogwarts.

Me? I'm a part of the house of the Lion: Gryffindor.

I'm not a Gryffindor because Harry Potter and the Golden Trio were all Gryffindors, there were many characters who were amazing and came from different houses (Cedric Diggory, anyone?).

I'm a Gryffindor because, in my heart, I'm going to fight for what is right, no matter the effect to me.

So, if you're unsure of your place in Hogwarts and think you might belong in red and gold, continue reading.

1. Loudness has never affected you because you can be loud yourself.

I get it, this is kind of stereotypical. But we're Gryffindors - we are outspoken about everything we do. Even our actions somehow scream who we are. When I have a thought, I need it to be known, and sometimes this can come out obnoxiously. But who can blame us? We're so easily excitable.

2. You've always had a bit of thirst for adrenaline.

Rollercoasters and fast cars are a lot of fun. Being on the edge of your seat during a sports game or even being in the sports game gets your blood pumping and you love it. The thrill seeking part of you often dominates your life, and you always love to look for another place for adventure.

3. You often butt heads with your Slytherin friends...

My four best friends are Slytherin through and through: They sit back and plan and think of consequences before rushing in. On the other hand, I'm the first one to do something while they are still deciding. Having Slytherin friends often means that your obnoxious rushing is counteracted with patient research....

4. But you often work best with Slytherins.

Yeah, other Gryffindors are a lot of fun, and sometimes we can get into trouble. But the best partners come from the hot and cold partnership of Slytherin's and Gryffindors - Fire and Water. When I get too heated, my Slytherin friends are often there to tell me to calm down and thinks things through. When they're too nervous about a situation, I'm the first to offer myself up so they don't have to. It's a perfect balance and if you work best with Slytherins but don't naturally identify with the house of the snake, you might be a Gryffindor.

5. You're the first to jump into action when there is injustice or trouble.

I have a small problem of keeping my mouth shut, especially when I think somebody is acting wrongfully. This can sometimes land me in trouble, because I have spoken out against people in power including teachers, my bosses, etc. But when I see somebody treating another human wrongfully, my heart acts before my brain. I have ran out of my car in the middle of a heavy street to help someone with a dead car, and I've been the first to stay out for several hours to stay with some stranded college kids. Gryffindor's don't think, they act.

6. One of the worst thing someone can call you is a coward.

People always give credit to the thinkers and the doers, but I think we should give credit to the tryers. That's us. We will try anything, and the "what if's" will haunt us more than the "oh well's". We are a house of tryers, of "Let's do it!", and of being trailblazers.... which leads me to my last point.

7. We are the ones that are brave at heart, in many ways.

Sometimes we might not be the first to act physically, but we're the first to act in several ways. And whatever we do, we give it our all. We're the first to love, and we do it deeply. We're the first to laugh, and we do so without regard. Sometimes we're afraid, but we act anyways. That's what makes us a Gryffindor, right?

So, maybe you might not be the bravest or the strongest. But you try, and that is what makes us Gryffindors.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
