After Labor Day, there seems to be a universal shift from carefree summer attitudes to cuddly, cozy fall feelings. Bikinis are traded for boots; shorts are put away in favor of sweaters; and best (or maybe worst?) of all, cuffing season begins. Below are these and a few more telltale signs that the harvest season is on its way:
1. Bring on the candy corn and caramel apples
The candy aisles in stores are suddenly overtaken by shades of orange, red, and yellow. Dentists everywhere are cringing.
2. Sweater weather
Everybody is snuggly in sweaters and hoodies, even if they are worn with shorts at the beginning of the fall season because nobody can figure out what in the world the weather is trying to do.
3. Are you ready for some football?
The pigskins are back on the field, and fans don the jerseys of their favorite players as they cheer on their teams of choice. Even if you don't like the sport, you can't argue with how yummy all the buff chick dip is...and how equally yummy the football pants look.
4. PSL is love, PSL is life
Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes (always imitated, but never duplicated) are fiiiinally available to be consumed by basic girls everywhere...and in secret by guys who refuse to admit how delicious they are.
5. Cuffing season
Seems like everybody who's anybody has somebody to pick pumpkins and take cute fall pictures with...meanwhile, I must be wearing an invisible scarecrow costume because ain't none of that happening over here.
6. Trick or treat
Though the execution may not happen until late October, most college kids begin thinking about and planning their Halloween costumes as early as summer. When costumes are available in stores again, you better snatch up your favorite fast before they're all gone and you're stuck as some bedsheet-wearing ghost.
7. Let's eat
Fall food is the best food. From Halloween candy to homemade apple cider to Thanksgiving turkey, autumn offers countless delicacies. Hashtag blessed.
