7 Shows To Watch In 2017
What's on Netflix

The end of the year is officially coming to a close! With the winter weather and the excitement of a new year ahead, one thing comes to mind- relaxation. This year, a few of my favorite shows are coming back on TV for a new season. Here are 7 shows to binge watch just in time for a new season in the new year:

1) Grey's Anatomy

Yes, it's still on. This ABC drama is a classic and one of my absolute favorites. Even though the original characters are no longer apart of this show, I still enjoy this #TGIT Shonda Rimes classic. Season 13 will return from it's winter break on Thursday, January 19th on ABC.

2) Jane the Virgin

This show is a CW popular hit. After coming across this show on Netflix with my roommate, I binge watched the entire first season in 4 days. This comedic drama involves the daily life of Jane, who after being artificially inseminated with her boss' sperm, has a baby while still being a virgin. This show is in its 3rd season and is on every Monday night on the CW.

3) Vanderpump Rules

This show is very much an upper-class version of 'Jersey Shore'. Lisa Vanderpump from 'Real Housewives of BeverleyHills' owns her own Restaurant, SUR, which is located in West Hollywood. This show follows the tangled lives of the staff at Lisa's Restaurant, who are all caught up in the CA fame. The staff hooks-up, beats one another up, and finds anyway to up one another. It's addicting, trashy, and Season 5 is on every Monday night on Bravo.

4) American Housewife

This show was recommended to me by my boss, and is nothing like 'Desperate Housewives'. This show follows the life of the Otto family who lives in Westport, Connecticut. This made-up family are working to be as perfect as their neighbors, which is not the goal for Mom and Wife Katie. Katie is a plus-size, sassy Mom and Wife, who wants to be nothing like the members of the community she lives in. She voices her favoritism of her youngest child, bonds with her friends daily over lunch, drives a min-van, and works hard around the house while her wacky husband (attempts) to offer a helping hand. This new, ABC show is in its 1st season, and is on every Tuesday night on ABC.

5) Scandal

This show is changing, addicting, and full of secrets every season its on. Olivia Pope works to hide the dirty secrets of the upper-elite in Washingon, D.C. while trying to ward off her feelings for the President of the United States. This show has a great story, things are always connected in ways you would never expect, and Shonda tries to trick us by using characters in this show from past characters in 'Grey's Anatomy'. This #TGIT show is in its 6th season and returns Thursday, January 19th after 'Grey's Anatomy'.

6) Being Mary Jane

This show is the most underrated show on TV right now. Gabrielle Union is the main character, and plays Mary Jane Paul. She is an independent, successful TV reporter trying to make a new for herself as an African American woman in the media industry. Season 4 is in a new city for MJ, as she decides to take on NYC. Hottie Michael Ealy is the newest star on this drama, and will return for an exciting new Season 4 on Tuesday, January 10 on BET.

7) Teen Mom 2

Go ahead, judge me. I can fully admit that I am addicted to this show. After watching '16 and Pregnant', following the girls from 'Teen Mom', and now following the lives of the girls on 'Teen Mom 2', I feel that I am closer in age to the girls on TM2. Kail, Jenelle, Chelsea, and Leah have had so many ups and downs in their lives and have still continued to work hard while being young Mothers. This show comes back to MTV on Monday, January 2 for season 8 on MTV.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
