November 25 is only days away, and with it comes the holy grail of modern television: "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life." And if you're anything like me, you've already finished rewatching the entire series on Netflix, and these next few days are just going to be agony. Or, if you're a normal person, you haven't done that and are just worried about how you'll deal after you watch "A Year in the Life" and know it really is all over. So whether you're in search of something to watch until the revival airs, or you're worried about how you'll handle the Post-Revival Blues, here's a list of shows that should appeal to "Gilmore Girls" fans.
1. Parenthood
Lauren Graham stars in this truly excellent drama, centering around four adult siblings and their families. Graham plays a single mom with all the energy and spunk of Lorelai Gilmore, with none of the "I hate my mom" baggage. There are myriad believable, real-life issues throughout every season. Honestly, this show has something for everyone to relate to, no matter where you happen to be in life. You can watch all of it on Netflix.
2. Bunheads
This ABC Family comedy series only lasted one season, but trust me, it's bril. It was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. Kelly Bishop is in it. Liza Weil and Sean Gunn are in it. People called this show Gilmore Girls with dance numbers. What's not to love? Unfortunately it isn't on any streaming service, but you can buy the season on iTunes.
3. Broad City
"Broad City" started out as a web series, detailing the everyday events of two best friends as they try to make it in New York. Comedy Central picked it up as a full-length sitcom in 2014, with Amy Poehler as an executive producer. To be brief, it is hilarious. And perhaps the most feminist show on television right now. It's available on Hulu.
4. Reign
This historical drama follows Mary Queen of Scots as she navigates life at French court. The early seasons center on Mary and her ladies in waiting, as they deal with romantic relationships, politics, and what turn out to be life or death situations. "Gilmore Girls" fans will appreciate the strong female leads and the smart plot lines. It's available on Netflix and Hulu.5. Mom
If "Gilmore Girls" had been realistic and not surrounded with "family money," it probably would have looked a lot like "Mom." This show follows a young mother (she became pregnant at 16) whose own daughter is now facing teen pregnancy, as she overcomes alcoholism. It's available on Hulu.6. New Girl
Jessica Day is maybe the most relatable character I've ever seen on television. "New Girl" has the fast-paced, witty dialogue "Gilmore Girls" fans love, is incredibly whimsical, and somehow stays pretty realistic. Oh, and there's an episode with Prince...so... You can watch it on Netflix and Hulu.
