7 Shows That Are Better Than "Roseanne"
Pexles

Disclaimer: I never watched Roseanne. It sounded like a show about a woman that raised sick donkeys for a living. I have, however, seen shows where the titular character doesn't compare a black person to a monkey in real life. We should hold content and content creators to a certain standard, but we should also realize that someone is going to mess up in a big way eventually. So, here are seven great comedy shows that are made by people who are not racist, or who are decent enough to hide it as best that they can. Refer to this list next time someone in Hollywood does something stupid and you need a new show to watch.

1. "Futurama"

If you like Rick and Morty, but hate how heavy-handed the social commentary and jokes are, then this is the show for you. A funny show with very smart writing that argues that life will always be the same, no matter what decade or millennium it is. Fair warning, this show is very reference-heavy, but never calls George Soros a Nazi.

2. "BoJack Horseman"

Wikipedia

This show can be depressing at times and you can really hate the main character at some points, but you learn to love him over time. Set in a fictional world were animal-human hybrids are normal, there are so many opportunities for animal-based puns. Furthermore, Bojack is a cartoon character that will never come to life and tweet something racist.

3. "The Big Bang Theory"

Woah! I just did something controversial!!! I apologize, but I have to admit, I do have a soft spot for outdated sitcom formats. Laugh tracks make me feel less lonely. Secondly, the show tackles racial stereotypes in a way that doesn't make me want to vomit. The characters have race and religions, but the show makes sure that they are more than their race or religion.

4. "Inbetweeners"

Wikipedia

A show from the other side of the pond. This one will bring you back to your high school angst days while giving you a glimpse of English culture. Fair warning, as far as I can remember, none of the characters are racist, but there are a few light gay jokes.

5. "The Office"

YouTube

We forgive everything that happens on this show. The characters are too lovable and stupid, to ever be at fault. Fair warning: Pam and Jim aren't married in real life. This doesn't offend me as much as the Roseanne fiasco, but it does make me sad.

6. "Drunk History"

YouTube

A truly underrated gem. It's a pretty sloppy show, with a progressive look at major historical events and figures. Definitely get drunk and watch this show with friends, or alone to forget all the insane stuff you see on the news.

7. "SpongeBob Squarepants"

Wikipedia

My fellow Americans, what a masterpiece this show is. I watch this show and wish to live in a pineapple under the sea to work at a minimum wage job for a loveable and chubby capitalist. Furthermore, Pearl never eats Plankton, and that's what makes the show extremely wholesome.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
