Relationships can either be a piece of cake or a load of work. It's important to know each other inside and out to avoid any mistakes and unwanted feelings. Here are seven secrets that may help you to maintain a healthy relationship with your significant other:

1. Be yourself. Be sincere.

It's so important that you be yourself when in a relationship. Your significant other should never want to change a thing about you and should love and accept you for who you are. It's important that you also say what you genuinely feel or believe. Never be dishonest with each other because after all, a healthy and stable relationship is built on a foundation of trust.

2. Express your feelings.

Never hide your feelings. You can't guess the way one another feels so it's important that you express the way you feel. If you're upset, tell them. If you're unhappy about something, tell them. Never guess and if they don't tell you their feelings then it never hurts to ask.

3. Give each other space.

Especially in new relationships, it's common to want to spend every split second with each other. In order for your relationship to be healthy, it's important that you give each other space to do your own things. Girls should go out shopping or get their nails done with their girlfriends while the guys should watch sports games together. It's important to divide your time wisely between your friends, your family and each other. Also, give time to yourself so you can reflect and focus on you for once.

4. Be positive.

Never doubt yourselves. If you ever fight, be positive about the outcome and learn how to work it out. Being negative will never get you anywhere. Remaining positive all the time will only help your relationship thrive.

5. Respect each other.

Definitely respect each other's beliefs, values and boundaries. It's important that you discuss with each other comfortable boundaries at the beginning of a relationship to avoid any miscommunication or unwanted feelings.

6. Create memories together.

This one is major key. Make plans, go out and have fun together. Be sure to take a picture so that the memory can last forever. It'll be nice one day to look back at these pictures to remember all of the good times you had together.

7. Make your lives a fairy tale.

No one ever said you're life can not have a fairy tale ending. It may not be like the books and the movies, but if you create your own fairy tale, there's nothing better as long as the two of you are happy in the end.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
