If you have seen any of Sandra Bullock’s movies, you know why she has one of the longest lists of hit films on IMDb. From drama, to comedy and romance, to animated children’s movies, she can do it all. Bullock started acting in 1987 and hasn’t stopped since. Even at 51 years old, she is as beautiful and talented as ever. She’s costarred alongside actors Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carell, Tim McGraw, and actresses Mellissa McCarthy, Madge Nelson, Amber Valletta, and Betty White! A winner of an Oscar, a Golden Globe award, and three Blockbuster Entertainment awards, her fans can’t wait to see what she does next. There are so many to choose from, but these seven are my favorite movies starring Sandra Bullock.

1. The Proposal

They were two people who weren’t supposed to fall in love… at least that was their story. To avoid being deported, Margaret Tate blackmails her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her. To her dismay, an immigration officer does not believe their story, so to make it more convincing, the two travel to Alaska to visit Andrew’s family to break the news of their “engagement.” Andrew’s Gammy (Betty White) and mother (Mary Steenburgen) create the perfect bachelorette weekend, and they decide to host the wedding in their barn at the end of the weekend. The only member of Andrew’s family who sees through the scheme is his father (Craig T. Nelson), but even after confronting them, Margaret and Andrew still insist on getting married. Somewhere along the way, Margaret and Andrew’s feelings for each other become not so fictional after all. This is a romantic comedy that you absolutely have to watch!

2. Miss Congeniality

In this comedy, Bullock plays an FBI agent, Gracie Hart. Her and her partner Eric Matthews (Benjamin Bratt) take on a case of a serial bomber who sends warnings to the FBI before he or she strikes. Their investigation leads them to the Miss United States beauty pageant, where Gracie becomes the FBI’s inside woman as a contestant. A hard-core feminist, she bashes the pageant when she discovers she will be Miss New Jersey. She discovers that there is a lot more to it than she original thought, and it becomes more than a case as she bonds with the other women and vows to protect them, even if it costs her the job.

3. Premonition

This is a mind-boggling drama that will leave you with your head spinning. Linda Hanson (Bullock) experiences the weirdest week of her life when she is notified of her husband Jim’s death, only to wake up the next day and see him very much alive. Each day of this week is out of order, so Jim died on Wednesday, which is the last day of the week for a very confused Linda. She soon realizes that she can try to prevent his death from happening, but struggles with her decision to do so when she discovers Jim’s possible infidelity. "Premonition" will keep you on the edge of your seat until the credits roll.

4. The Blind Side

Based on a true story, Bullock plays Leigh Anne Tuohy. Her and her husband Sean (Tim McGraw) have two kids, S.J. (Jae Head) and Collins (Lily Collins). After a sporting event one night, they see someone walking on the side of the road in the rain. Leigh Anne asks Sean to stop the car and gets out to talk to Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron). After she discovers that he has nowhere to spend the night, she invites him to stay with her and her family. One night turns into a week, and eventually Leigh Anne decides to adopt Michael. She helps him join the football team and raise his grades to get into college. Despite the disapproval of her community, Leann accepted Michael into her home and gave him opportunities he never would’ve had living on the street.

5. Speed

Acting alongside Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock is a passenger on a bus named Annie. LAPD officer Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves), races against speed and time to prevent the bomb on their bus from detonating. The person responsible is familiar with Jack and taunts him throughout the movie because Jack always seems to be one step behind the bomber. Annie drives the bus at 55 miles per hour or higher, because if the bus’ speed drops below that, the bomb will go off. The bomber is watching, and if anyone tries to get off the bus, the bomb will detonate. Just when you think Jack and Annie are safe, they’re not. This is a thriller you have to see… and there might even be a love story involved.

6. The Heat

FBI Agent Ashburn (Bullock) and Boston PD Officer Mullins (Mellissa McCarthy) are at odds searching for a drug lord/serial killer. They can’t stand each other, but with the action and drama they endure together, what started out as a competition turns into a friendship. Their snarky comments and insults toward each other will have you laughing throughout the whole movie.

7. 28 Days

"28 Days" tells the story of Gwen Cummings on her road to recovery from alcoholism. After ruining her sister’s wedding, Gwen gets into a car accident. Because she was drunk, the judge orders her to 28 days of mandatory rehab. While at the rehab center, she slowly discovers that she does have a problem and begins to work toward her recovery. She makes a few friends at the center and gains a support system that she didn’t have before. Bullock accurately portrays the struggles of being an alcoholic in this drama/comedy.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
