Fall is great; it's sunny yet chilly, orange yet grey, perfect for enjoying a hot beverage yet also warm enough to go without a jacket. But with fall comes those contemplative cloudy days where you just need something melancholy and hipster to listen to. If you're in need of something to fill this gap in your musical taste, then this is the list is for you.

1. "Ghosts" by Laura Marling

Maybe it’s the relatively spooky title or maybe it’s the catchy yet melancholy chorus, but, whatever the reason, this song makes me picture the gray and crisp days I’ve come to associate with fall. This is the exact kind of song you want to listen to while drinking a cup of strong tea and staring out the window at all those orange leaves on the tree outside. (Instead of doing all that work that’s been piling up, of course.)

2. "Welcome Home, Son" by Radical Face

What’s not to love about this classic indie tune? The wind chimes and the vocals make me picture driving down the highway on a brisk October day. I don’t know about you, but this song has always given me serious transcendentalist vibes.

3. "Middle Distance Runner" by Sea Wolf

Thanks to my brother, fall has always been linked with cross country running, something that makes this song particularly applicable to the fall season. Sports aside, however, this song has everything you love about a great indie song – a catchy tune and relatively sad and vague lyrics.

4. "I And Love And You" by The Avett Brothers

Even though this song is a little depressing, and is probably the kind of song you want to listen to when having an existential crisis, it also makes me think of old yellowy photographs and stepping on crunchy leaves. If you ever want to feel like your entire life is a montage in an independent film, then this is the song you want to listen to.

5. "Growing Up" by Run River North

This song still fits into the kind of sad, kind of chill category as the rest of the songs, but, for some reason, this song makes me feel a little optimistic. This isn’t the type of song for a gray November day, but instead a relatively warm, relatively sunny late September day. This would be the final song in the indie movie about your teenage years, where you realize everything is going to be a-okay.

6. "The Moon Song" by The Hound + The Fox

This cover of one of the songs from the movie “Her” is a fantastic fall tune. It’s sounds a little bit like a lullaby, so make sure you aren’t in danger of taking an impromptu nap when you give it a listen.

7. "Cherry Wine" by Hozier

Honestly, who doesn’t love Hozier? He’s the god of slightly sad hipster songs that make you feel like you’re always living in the middle of autumn. “Cherry Wine” in particular is a great song for when you’re looking for something to listen to while you’re drinking a hot beverage.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
