The addition of these restaurants could possibly make Grand River better than it already is.

Everyone who goes to Michigan State knows that Grand River is really the only go-to place to get food other than the caf. Recently there's been great new editions to MSU. Blaze and Lotsa pizza are only a few of these great editions. However, I believe there can be select restaurants added to make Grand River even better! So here they are starting with everyone's fan favorite: Panera.

1. Panera

Panera. It serves bagels, rocking soups and salads, and bomb sandwiches. MSU is in need of a Panera. I'm thinking that it could take the place of the now abandoned Cosi (why did that close down again?). It just screams Panera to me. Plus, the location is prime and would be perfect for a quick stop in between classes.

2. Dunkin Donuts

Yes, there is a Dunkin Donuts that is relatively close to campus. But is there one on Grand River? No. Their donuts are probably the best donuts, in the whole entire world. And that's what Grand River lacks, some good donuts. AND, they have delicious coffee that's half the price of Starbucks.

3. Olive Garden

Noodles and Company is great and they deliver which is awesome, but it's not the same as actually going to an actual restaurant, ordering an appetizer, then a meal and possibly some desert. That's why, we got to get a good pasta (sit-down) place. Plus everyone loves Olive Garden's food. Endless soup and salad? A broke college kid's dream.

4. Dairy Queen

Tasty twist is bomb, but don't get me wrong there is nothing like a good old fashion blizzard from Dairy Queen. We have a Coldstone but it's not the same. And what's wrong with adding another ice cream joint to the mix? Everyone loves ice cream!

5. Applebee's

There is nothing better than Applebee's appetizers. They're not to pricy and they always have great deals! Not to mention, they have basically everything known to man on their menu. Because the menu has such a big variety it makes it a great place to go and hang out with friends!

6. Meat

Meat. A great establishment. Even though it resides in Lansing, they should open one on Grand River. For all meat lovers this would be the answer to all your prayers. Serving outrageous portions of meat, it would be a great place to go and chill with friends and eat some seriously good BBQ.

Maybe in the future, we'll see one of these restaurants standing tall and proud on Grand River, until then we'll just shove our faces with Potbelly, Bdubs and Panda Express.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
