Office Holidays

My succinct description of 2016: a shitshow. Fortunately, 2016 gave me opportunities to meet lovely people and have awesome memories with them, but 2016 was still one hell of a year. For all I know, 2017 could be Part Two of 2016, but I’ve never been more stoked about a new year. I used to mock those who lived by the “new year, new me” philosophy, but I think 2017 should be the year of “new year, new me.” It’s a good way to follow the year of “realizing things,” as deemed by Kylie Jenner.

Read the New Testament

In my spiritual quest, I have decided to start with the religion I am most familiar with: Christianity. I know of the religion fairly well, but this doesn’t mean I know the religion. The only way I can think of genuinely practicing Christianity as a non-religious person is to pray and read the Bible. I might throw in the Old Testament if I actually finish the New Testament.

Donate to Grassroots Charities/Organizations

For the most part, grassroots charities/organizations get more shit done rather than wasting money on swag bags for donors or other frivolous things. I haven’t decided the specific ones I would like to donate to, but I would like to give to grassroots charities and organizations that help the LGBT+ community, people of color, the environment.

Empties

My makeup collection isn’t small, and I would like to downsize it. Over the years, I have developed a good understanding of what I like and what I love, so I'm not concerned with wasting my money on products I won't use. I would like to use up at least 20 products currently in my collection this year.

Work Harder

I managed to pull off a pretty damn good GPA my first semester of college even when my slacker ways grabbed hold of me. However, I’m fully aware I could have done better. I want to put in more effort into my school work so I can continue affording Wofford College.

Worry less about being single

I’m an awkward person and a liberal in the South. I don’t know why I thought my chances of finding a boyfriend would increase when I went to college. Giving a shit about having a lover is pointless in the grand scheme of college life. I have better things to do than worry about an engagement ring appearing on my finger by the end of my college days.

Read 25 books

For me, Netflix and Amazon Prime are easy outlets for escapism. However, I miss reading for enjoyment, which I’ve rarely done in years. I currently have three books that I’ve purchased but haven’t yet read and two books I've started but haven't finished.

Take a Hike(More than one, actually)

I enjoy the outdoors. I've never spent as much quality time outside as I would like. Ideally, I would like to take at least one hike a month, with or without friends.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
