7 Relationships You Won't Find In A Bedtime Story

You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the right one, right?

Growing up, all the childhood books your mom would read you at bedtime contained stories where the woman was always rescued by the man and they lived happily ever after. They never talked about the man's side hoe or the booty call the woman had before she met her prince charming. Thankfully college gives a more accurate bedtime story about relationships.

Here are a few relationships you probably never heard about in your childhood bedtime story:

1. The Booty Call

The relationship step up from the one night stand. You only talk after 11 p.m. and it's strictly to see if the other is free. There is usually no spending the night because that could lead to a morning conversation or breakfast and that is against the rules. You don't ask each other about their day or their feelings because you honestly don't care.

2. The Study Buddies

You guys share a hard class together and a mutual attraction. One day the teacher assigns a project or big test and one of you suggest to study together. You text each other about the work only so the conversation can lead into "studying." Next thing you know, you're an hour into your study session and all your studying is sexology when you were supposed to be studying stats.

3. The One Night Stand

You make eye contact across the bar and know it will be a one night stand at first sight. But once the night is over and morning rolls around you say your goodbyes and go your separate ways, usually without exchanging a last name or even a phone number.

4. The in Limbo Couple

You both have one foot on the single side and one foot on the exclusive side but neither of you have brought up the conversation that will steer you both to one side. You do all the things a couple would do without explicitly referring to each other as your boyfriend/girlfriend.

5. The Fairy Tale

Every girl has that one boy who she fantasizes about. He may be in your class or someone you see in the gym but either way, you guys have never made it past the common social graces. But maybe one day you will become irresistible and he will come save you from your tower of misery and you will live happily ever after... yeah, one day.

6. The why are you even dating couple??

We all know the couple who stays together but also stays with someone else on the weekends. They have been together since high school but can't seem to call it quits even though both of their hearts are obviously elsewhere.

7. The Lucky Ones

That one couple that seems to have it all. They are both genuinely interested in making the relationship work and think the utmost best of each other. There is the possibility they can make it to the end and everyone dreams of one day having what they have one. They're proof that fairytales may just exist.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
