Have you ever gone to a party or the bars sober? I'm talking stone-cold, 100 percent sober. Probably not, because that's considered lame and looked down upon by all of your friends and the rest of your college campus. Well, guess what? Your friends and the binge-drinking culture we live in are totally wrong. It's 100 percent possible to go out and stay sober, and still have a great night. You may actually find that going out sober is more fun than going out drunk, and at the very least is filled with a lot less regret.
1. Drinking is expensive.
Imagine how much money you could save each weekend if you didn't drop $20 every night at the bar? Even if you're getting your alcohol for free you still can't drive, so you're spending countless dollars on cabs, Uber and Lyft every time you decide to leave the house intoxicated. Think about all of the other things you could be spending that money on if you don't waste it on a night out!
2. Your friends will say stupid things.
Think about all of the dumb stuff you've said while drunk without even realizing how bad it sounded. Your friends are bound to say something stupid and you'll be there to laugh about it and then ridicule them to no end the next day. The best part? They won't be able to say anything back to you because they were drunk and you were sober, and no one can deny the accuracy of the sober friend. Just make sure you have your Snapchat ready, just in case anyone needs proof.
3. You won't be hungover.
While all of your friends are laying in bed for the next 24 hours with pounding headaches, you'll be able to go out and actually be a productive member of society! Think about all of the things you'll be able to do the next day that you would never have been able to accomplish with a raging hangover.
4. Have you tried water?
Drinking water while you are out gives you the illusion that you're drinking alcohol and involved in what your friends are doing, without all of the negative consequences. Are your friends taking shots? Take a big gulp of water and then watch as they feel like they're dying and you feel great. Ordering drinks at the bar? Your drink is free! Hydration is awesome and you'll feel amazing the next morning.
5. You won't drunk eat at the end of the night.
You know those mornings when you wake up to Taco Bell wrappers or empty pizza boxes all over your room and in your bed, and you're filled with shame, regret and an emptier bank account? No need to worry about that because sober you won't be nearly as tempted to eat junk food as drunk you would be.
6. Alcohol is bad for you.
I know you're reading this like yeah duh. However, I bet you didn't know that one glass of wine has the same amount of calories as four cookies, or that a pint of beer is equivalent to a slice of pizza? Alcohol is full of empty calories, so just think about how many calories you'll be saving by not drinking for a night! Your body will thank you. Use them on the pizza instead.
7. There are no regrets, man.
You'll never regret a night you went out sober, made no mistakes, gained no new bruises and woke up feeling refreshed and in your own bed with all of your belongings. All of your memories will be intact and you won't have to partake in any of the damage control your friends may be dealing with the day after a big night out. No "Sorry about last night I was drunk" texts coming from your phone the next day, that's for sure.
