7 Reasons Why You Should Go Camping Today

Technology has been advancing substantially over the past couple of decades, and it has been great to see the amount of connectivity we can have with each other and the world. The only issue is that we may be missing out on some really great things if we're not careful.

Camping has been an iconic event for vacations, outdoor trips, and time spent away from the busyness of life. On a personal note, camping has played a huge part in the life of my family and I hope to continue the tradition with my kids as well. To be honest, I'm actually camping as I write this article.

If you've never gone camping or haven't done it all too often, here are 7 reasons you should go camping right now!

1. Camping Is Fun

If you haven't figured it out already, camping is an absolute blast! You are surrounded by nature and nothing to distract you from enjoying the scenery. Not only that, but you have the openness of the world at your fingertips. You can explore, fish, play catch, or even just relax. The options are truly endless.

2. Camping Is Relaxing

A normal day in the life of our world typically involves moving around from place to place at a pace of around 100mph. It's exhilarating at times, but can quickly become tiresome if you do it for too long. I enjoy being busy and I even have my moments of exhaustion.

Camping is a great way to remedy that problem. When you camp, you are forcing yourself to take a breather from everything. I find that I'm most rejuvenated when I go out on trips to the wild. There is something about the rustling of trees that really can't be imitated like the outdoors.

3. Camping Is Cheap

Aside from the food you bring and the camping location, there isn't much that you have to spend to go out. It allows you the freedom to have a vacation without it taking too much of a toll on your wallet. If you're trying to hold on to that extra cash while wanting to go out, camping is always a great option.

4. Camping Is Great For Big Ideas

As a marketer on my side job, I really try to find some ideas that I can do for my next big thing. Being busy usually saps my creative side, so going out will put me back in a place where I can let my imagination run wild again. I come up with some of the best stuff when I'm sitting by the fire.

Whatever business or hobby you may like, a little trip outdoors can really boost your creativity. It can even give you some encouragement in the areas that you're already working in. Being away from everything can be the best medicine.

5. Camping Will Brighten Your Day

However you want to look at it, you can just be alone with your thoughts and problems will fade in the background. No matter what the problem is, it will feel small when you take some time away. It doesn't necessarily get rid of it, but it will help you realize that you'll get through it just fine. If that doesn't brighten your day, I don't know what will.

6. Camping Creates Memories

My best memories with my family, friends, and my wife are usually done in the places that is outside of my normal life, and camping is one of those things. I really find the best moments are when we're laughing by the fire or jamming out on our acoustic guitars. Hey, you can even play a card game if it's not too windy.

My wife and I bring out our hammock and will attempt to take a nap in the middle of the day. We usually won't fall asleep, but our conversations always contain "I love you's" and cuddles. No matter who you go with, you'll have those memories that you can go back to and in turn, it brings you closer to the people you care about.

7. Camping Brings You Closer To God

I heard someone once say, "Nature is God's Masterpiece" and it couldn't be more true. Having that alone time with God really can help you see His work in places that you may not have noticed before. Find some time where you can read His Word, and just spend some time in His Presence. He can show you a lot of things that will inevitably grow you closer to Him.

Well, there you have it! There are so many benefits that camping has to offer! I could go on, but I'll let you be the judge as to how it helps you. If nothing else, at least go out and enjoy a picnic somewhere you haven't been (it can also double as a date night!)

Camping is a lost art that really creates something special when you go. Take some time and give it a try. You'll be glad you did! Now I'm going to go back to the fire and warm myself up!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
