My entire life I have always loved the idea of mermaids, the only reason I liked swimming growing up was because I could pretend like I was a mermaid living the dream. Sure, they're considered to not be real but honestly I would rather pretend that they were. The idea of mermaids makes me happy, it's nice to think that there is more out there than just the world we see every day. Here are seven reasons why I would rather be a mermaid.
1. They never wear clothes.
They are always naked, their fin is attached but if they wore shirts it would be an inconvenience to their every day lives. Could you imagine not having to wear clothes everyday? No more going through 10 outfits trying to figure out which one works, just wake up and go.
2. Their hair.
Whenever I swear my hair looks like dried spaghetti noodles, it doesn't look like lusciousness just swaying in the sea. Mermaids always have perfect hair, it doesn't matter if there is a huge wave it still looks flawless.
3. They never have to worry about groceries.
Sushi! All day every day. They don't shop, they literally just look around and decide what exactly they're going to eat for dinner. It's the ocean their possibilities are endless, and it's free.
4. Everyone loves them.
OK, most people don't even like people, but everyone loves mermaids. They're beautiful to the point where there is even a legend talking about how their beauty was so distracting they could lure people to their deaths.
5. How well they can swim.
I mean obviously, this is a given but I spend most of my time doing the doggy paddle. Can you even imagine the possibilities if you were able to swim underwater and explore the depths of the ocean?
6. They don't have to wear makeup.
Mermaids don't need makeup (not that it would stay on), they're just naturally beautiful. Yes, it is a fact they're just perfect.
7. Free stuff.
You know all of those things you lost in the ocean? (your Ray-Bans? Your favorite watch?) Yeah, those items belong to mermaids now.
Yes, we see amazing things day to day but the idea of experiencing the ocean is amazing, and I will forever wonder what it would be like to see more of our amazing world.
