Being a young millennial growing up in the 21st century, it is quite obvious that owning a smartphone and having more apps than one can count on one hand is an absolute given. However, there are always certain apps that many people use the most—one of which, my friends, is the well-known and well-liked, Snapchat.

Snapchat has been around since 2011, however, it didn't get much buzz until the past two years or so. It is widely accepted all around the world, for several reasons. While people are of course entitled to their own opinion, I think many people can agree that Snapchat is the best form of social media out there—and I am going to list eight reasons why.

1. It only lasts 24 hours

Someone posted an embarrassing snap video of you from the night before? No worries, it will only be there for 24 hours (granted, 165 people probably already saw it.)

2. You can choose how long you want your snap to last

Sending an ugly selfie of yourself to someone, but knowing that someone will screenshot it for black mail later? Make that snap one second long, so they'll never even have the chance to.

3. You can replay snaps that someone sent to you

Okay, so I cut around the bush a little. If you send an ugly selfie to someone, but they didn't have a chance to screenshot it, chances are they'll replay it and this time they'll get it for sure.

4. Filters

Man, oh man, are they things a blessing in disguise (literally). So, that cute guy from your class snapchatted you at midnight but you already took your makeup off and don't want to snap him back. Have no fear—use that puppy dog filter. I promise, it will save you.

5. You can see who views your story

You just posted a really cute selfie, and of course, want that *certain* guy to see it. Well, my darling, thanks to Snapchat, you can.

6. Location Filters

Okay honestly, I think this is one of the best parts of Snapchat as a whole. Most places that you are, whether it be your hometown, or somewhere fancy out of the country, the place that you're in will likely have a cool, trendy filter or filter(s) that mold your pictures/videos into showing where you are to your viewers.

7. Snap to your story, or to someone specific

Sending a picture/video that you only want your closest friends to see? Send it straight to them, without anyone else seeing. Or, if you're feeling frisky, send it to your story, letting everyone see, just for the heck of it.

8. You can caption everything, and anything

Not only can you send individual pictures or videos to select people, but you can also add a caption to it too, which ultimately adds conversation.

So, thanks, Snapchat. I would be nothing without you.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
