Welcome to the family, son.

At the 2016 E3 Conference, Sony revealed its first ever teaser trailer for "Resident Evil 7."

When I first heard the news, I was rather excited. I have been a Resident Evil fan for years now and I remember being excited about the release of predecessors "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6", as well as a few other of the games as well. It is safe to say I am definitely excited about this one.

However, I have noticed some of the negativity that this upcoming game received from fans that weren't too thrilled about the last game. So without further ado, here are seven reasons why "Resident Evil 7" is going to be a great game.

1. First – person point of view

While earlier games focused on awkward, fixed camera angles, third-person (or "over the shoulder") point of view, this could be a new way for the player to experience the RE series.

2. An entire cast of new characters

Let's be honest. We're all use to seeing the original characters such as Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine and others. I was honestly a bit skeptical about the "new characters" thing as well, but I believe The Bakers will make us feel right at home. Am I right?

3. Terrifying enemies

In the "Midnight" demo of the game, we were introduced to a new enemy similar to the Oozes we saw in "Resident Evil: Revelations". Right now, little is known about what enemies will be in RE7, but as long as we don't see (or hear) those ear-wrenching, screeching monsters that were in "RE6", I think I'll be okay.

4. PlayStation® VR Compatibility

If you haven't checked out the Playstation VR yet, I feel sorry for you. Because honestly, it's completely unreal. While playing the Lantern demo with the VR headset, I felt like I was really inside of the game and being pursued by Marguerite. It was a real experience, I must say.

5. There will be a connection to the "Resident Evil" series

Alright, alright. Everyone settle down. Though right now we don't exactly know how, there will be a connection to the RE series. Was Ethan a member of Umbrella? Is this all tied to Umbrella? Let's wait and see how it all plays out.

6. Mysterious Storyline

So right now, very little is known about the actual storyline itself. I have seen several theory videos, but let's try not to give out too much information, shall we?

7. It will be a perfect combination of old and new.

While this games brings in new elements such as the first-person point of view, an entire cast of new characters, and adding in the virtual reality option, RE7 will still contain the survival-horror, puzzles and the same weapon-style gameplay that the series has always been known for.

Despite the backlash this game has received from some, I truly believe that RE7 will be different from the rest and that we are all in for a thrilling, horrific, and “old school RE” – style treat.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
