7 Reasons Why My Boyfriend Is Also My Best Friend

You are the peanut butter to my jelly, the twinkle in my eye, the mac to my cheese, the blue to my sky, the best to my friend and the love of my life.

To all those who are in a close relationship you share something special with your significant other. It is an irreplaceable chemistry and bond. Not only do I love my boyfriend; he is also my best friend. We laugh together, smile together, cry together, and yes we even fart together. Here are seven reasons why my boyfriend is also my best friend.

1. We just get each other

We understand each other. We complement each other. We complete each other. There's no other way to describe our relationship. We just get each other. After being a relationship for almost four years, we practically know each other. We know what foods we like and don’t like, what our favorite things to do are, and what kind of radio channel we want on.

2. We can be ourselves together

It is the best feeling in the world to just be yourself. My boyfriend loves me for exactly who I am. I am comfortable wearing a T-shirt, sweatpants, no makeup, and my hair tied back when I am with him because he loves me no matter what I look like. I can be myself, act goofy, be weird, and yes even fart in front of him.

3. We adventure

What is a best friend without a little adventure?! We have traveled and explored together. Camping trips, beach trips, and road trips by each others side. Not only have we went on spontaneous trips, but we have journeyed on the craziest adventure of all times: life. Life's a roller coaster. It can be fast, and slow, even a few sharp turns. It is unpredictable. We have made it through high school graduations, the starting of college, getting new jobs, and so much more. Life is always an adventure but I wouldn’t want to face it with anyone else but him.

4. We bring out the best in each other

My boyfriend is my supporter and my motivator. On those days where I feel like giving up, he is what gets me through it. He gets me through those rough weeks in college that are overwhelming and stressful. He is my rock.

5. We will never leave each others’ side

Through thick and thin, strong and weak, smooth and rough, we will never leave each others’ side. We have experienced great highs and lows in both of our lives. We have underwent the grief and loss of the death of loved ones. We have cried and mourned together. But, we have also celebrated together at sports victories, high school graduations, and great paying job offers. Through it all we have never left each others’ side.

6. We compromise

The saying opposites attract is definitely proven to be true. My boyfriend and I are very much polar opposites. We prefer different music, TV shows, and food. Although we have our difference we make it work. We compromise. We let each other watch what the other wants on TV for a night. We decide together on which restaurant to eat at. We take turns listening to each others favorite radio station. We even learn to like what the other person likes. I am now a 5 finger death punch fan and an avid sons of anarchy watcher on Netflix.

7. We love unconditionally

The one thing that holds us together is love. It is true. It is unconditional. Words can not possibly describe the infinite amount of love I have for him. I can honestly and faithfully say that I would take a bullet for him. His love is just the same and I could not be more blessed and thankful for that.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
