7 Reasons Why Chick-Fil-A Is The Best Company To Work For

It's not just because of the discounts you receive on The Lord's Chicken.

Chick-fil-A was my second job at the age of 17 and I was hired during my Junior year of high school. Over the past few years, I have had some of the best times working for this company.

I am not speaking for every employee, but I would say a majority would agree that it is an amazing company - no matter which state or operator you work for. You can tell this is true by the longevity most employees stick around whether they're students or adults working fulltime.

Here are 7 reasons why I personally love serving "the Lord's chicken."

1. The fellow employees.

I made some of my very best friends working at Chick-fil-A, as well as my current boyfriend. Chick-fil-A has a tendency to hire intelligent, polite, and hard-working employees, so pretty much everyone gets along.

You also sweat and work very hard together for countless hours, which makes the bonding experience unlike any other (Being 12 orders off the screen during the Saturday lunch rush...).

But seriously, ever since I left for college this summer, whenever I come back to work breaks I feel right at home again. We employees are a family.

2. The food... duh.

Every day you work you get a discount on the Lord's food... I think yes. Ask all of us that have worked at Chick-Fil-A for years, we don't get sick of eating it.

The nice thing about Chick-Fil-A, compared to other fast food restaurants, is that they offer healthy alternatives. They have fresh fruit and delicious soups and salads so you don't have to eat something fried every meal.

3. The customers.

Chick-Fil-A is huge on customer service and in general being kind to one another. This is reflected in the way the customers treat us; the majority are frequent visitors and we have a large "regulars" base which is awesome.

I have witnessed numerous cases of not only Chick-Fil-A employees but customers stepping up and being kind. For example, paying for a stressed-out mother's order when she forgot her credit card.

It makes the workday more stress-free when your customers are kind and understanding as most avid CFA fans are.

4. The opportunity for growth.

At least at my location, each employee was given many opportunities to test their leadership skills and earn promotions.

I have witnessed some of the quietest, shy employees flourish and become spectacular team leaders. Everyone is so supportive of one another and it makes the work day better when your best friend is in charge of running your shift.

5. Always having Sundays off.

This is a very overlooked detail of working for CFA. It was so nice not ever having to request off Sundays (even though I often did by accident). The day was always yours for church, brunch, or homework/studying.

Customers hate it and yes it did suck when you were craving CFA on a Sunday afternoon... but at least you didn't have to work!

6. The actual work.

My very first job was hostessing at a small restaurant inside of a neighborhood and I can tell you firsthand... 4 hours feels like 10 when you don't have much to do.

Chick-Fil-A is very fast paced (and always busy) and I noticed 8-hour shifts felt more like 4 because you ALWAYS have something to do.

Each position within Chick-Fil-A is different and odds are you won't be doing the same thing day-to-day which keeps things interesting.

7. The memories.

Some of my best memories come from the late school nights closing with 6 of my best friends. Even though going to school from 7-3 and working 4-11 made life stressful at times, I grew and learned so much about hard work and balance.

Working at Chick-Fil-A will always be a very special part of my life and I am beyond thankful that I had all of the experiences I had with them.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
