7 Reasons Why I Love Jersey Mike's
Jersey Mike's

In the summer of 2009, my family and I packed up the car and made the twelve-hour drive to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. One night during our trip, my dad bought us Jersey Mike's Subs for dinner. The second after he took a bite out of his sub, he looked at us and told us it was the best sub he had ever tasted. He then proceeded to tell us that he was going to open up his own franchise. We all thought he was crazy, especially considering he was already a busy dentist with no room in his schedule for anything else. Little did we know, he was not joking. On December 17th, 2014 my dad opened his first Jersey Mike's Subs. My dad saw Jersey Mike's Subs as unique. Here are seven reasons why I love Jersey Mike's.

1. The Story

Peter Cancro, the CEO of Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems Inc., was fourteen years old when he first started working at Mike's Subs in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Cancro loved working at Mike's Subs. One day, Cancro overheard his boss discussing plans to sell the business. After hearing this, Peter went to his football coach at the time and asked him for help on how to take out a bank loan so he could buy Mike's Subs. At the age of seventeen, Peter became the owner of Mike's Subs. He changed the name to Jersey Mike's in order to capture the whole story behind the establishment ,and started franchising in 1987.

2. The Grand Opening

Every store goes through a Grand Opening. For five days, a customer receives a free regular size sub should they choose to donate at least one dollar to charity. All proceeds collected during the Grand Opening are donated to a charity chosen by the owner.

3. Would you like your sub Mike's Way?

Mike's Way is the ONLY way when it comes to a sub from Jersey Mike's. Mike's Way consists of onion, lettuce, tomato, red wine vinegar, olive oil blend and spices. It makes a good sub a better one. "The Juice" adds something extra to each cold sub. Something so simple makes each sub a "sub above."

4. Freshly sliced, freshly grilled.

At Jersey Mike's, we slice quality meats and cheeses for a sub right in front of our customers. Hot subs are also prepared freshly on the grill. Freshness and quality, as well as pleasing our customers, is our main concern: there is no other way to do it.

5. Freshness matters

In order to have a fresh sub, you need to start with fresh ingredients. As a result, Jersey Mike's uses only the freshest produce, meats, and cheeses in order to make the perfect sub. We prep our meats and veggies every morning so that costumers get the freshest sub.

6.The bread

It would not be a sub without the bread. Baked right in the store every morning, the bread is always fresh and will never let you down.

7. #13

The Original Italian, or the #13, is the most popular and delicious sub. Ask for this sub Mike's Way and you will taste something you have never experienced before.

I really take pride in Jersey Mike's. I have really grown to love working at such a great establishment and serving a quality product to our costumers. So, if you have never been to Jersey Mike's, stop by and try it out. I am sure you will be far from disappointed.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
