Everyone, whether they know it or not, are friends with a musician. Whether or not they know it or not, musicians are the absolute best people in the world. These people are usually very outgoing and have loads of fun. Here are 7 reasons why I'm a musician and why I love musicians!

1. We Always Have The Most Fun: We're usually doing something that involves everyone and we're always laughing and carrying on. This is usually because someone, or something, has done something very very stupid or random.

2. We're Always Eating: Since musicians are pretty active, we're usually pretty hungry. Almost anything we do involves food in some way, shape, or form. We're usually out getting milkshakes or fries or something like that.

3. Nothing Is More Fun Than Perfecting That Hard Classical Piece: You know that feeling when you've accomplished something that you knew would be super hard to do? Some people celebrate it by cheering, but we celebrate by the goosebumps we get by playing it so correctly and so beautifully.

4. Playing Fun Music: I've always enjoyed playing fun songs. I LOVE playing slow, beautiful pieces. It really brings out the emotions of music. So many people like the faster music with the sixteenth note runs, but taking a slow piece and making it sound so beautiful and full of emotions and power is probably the best thing about playing music.

5. Going on Trips With Other Musicians Is Bunches of Fun: We always go on trips to fun places. It doesn't matter if it's for something related to music and playing music or if we're just going somewhere to hang out, we always have fun and it's always really funny and entertaining.

6. We Constantly Hang Out Together: It could be good or bad, but we almost always hang out together. Our friend group can expand with more musicians but when non-musicians come into the group, they feel left out because we almost always talk about something that happened while playing music or while we're working with music. This usually pertains to those of us that are/were in marching band.

7. We Are Usually Some of the Nicest People You'll Ever Meet: We're the nicest group of people and we'll become friends with almost everyone. We try to include everyone and we want everyone to have a good experience. If you're gonna make friends with any type of person, become friends with the musicians. We're the best kind of people!

Musicians are the best kind of people and we love to make friends. Whenever you get the chance to either become a musician or make a friend who's a musician, do it. I promise, you won't regret it!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
