As decisions for #WFU21 were released on Thursday, it made me reminisce upon the reasons why Wake Forest stood out to me. For those of you lucky enough to receive an acceptance letter and are still deciding, here are seven reasons why I chose, and love, Wake Forest.
1. Campus size
The medium-size is a perfect balance of being big enough to see someone new everyday, but also small enough to bump into a familiar face.
2. Campus beauty
Whether it's the cherry blossoms in the spring, or the beautiful craft of Wake Forest's landscaping, the campus is definitely as beautiful as it is in the pictures, and the beloved Wait Chapel at the center of campus bolsters its beauty ten-fold.
3. Spirit of Pro Humanitate
Service is engrained seamlessly into everything that a student does here at Wake Forest. Through traditional events such as Hit the Bricks, Wake 'N Shake, and many more, you are bound to serve your community in one way or another during your four-year tenure.
4. Class sizes
After being here at Wake Forest for almost a year, I can't imagine being in an engaging learning environment where there are 200+ students in one room. Due to the small class sizes, you are able to break the barrier between you and your professor, and instead of just being your instructor, he or she can become more than that. Your professors can act as mentors, and by doing things such as going to their office hours, you'll be able to forge an academic relationship that is incomparable to that of a larger school.
5. Friendliness
It goes without saying that the majority of people that you encounter here at Wake Forest are the friendliest people you will ever meet!
6. Challenging academics
It doesn't get the nickname "Work Forest" for no reason! You'll realize that maximal effort in high school is the norm and expected of you here. But don't fret, it is manageable and keeps you on your toes 24/7. Imagine going to a college where you aren't mentally challenged and pull off good grades with no effort? Yeah, I can't either.
7. Weather
Nothing is better than experiencing all four seasons, especially for people that hail from the North!
So if you are still on the fence, I hope these factors help people weigh in the reasons why a Wake Forest education is the way to go.
