7 Reasons Why Book Lovers Should Watch W: Two Worlds

Most book lovers find joy in TV shows and movies as well. Stories span across tons of mediums and we are always on the hunt for a new show or movie to watch. If you find yourself needing a new show to marathon, look no further. W: Two Worlds is the perfect show for book lovers and writers alike. It is a Korean drama, and is hands down one of the best shows I have ever watched not only as a fan of Korean culture, but as a reader and writer. Here are a few reasons why you should watch this drama!

It is completely unique and original.

W, or also known as Two Worlds, is a completely unique show like I’ve never seen before. It is set in two separate worlds. One is the real world, and the other is set inside the world of “W”, a webtoon (or comic). The main character of the drama is the daughter of the author of “W”. The show begins with the author attempting to kill off Kang Chul, the main character of his webtoon. Kang Chul reaches out into the real world and pulls the author’s daughter, Yeon Joon, into the world of the webtoon where she saves his life. This sets off a chain reaction where the webtoon begins to have a mind of its own and characters essentially begin to write their own story, rather than the author.

There is never a dull moment.

There was never a moment where I lost interest in this show. From start to finish I was either forgetting to breathe because of the sheer amount of tension going on, or laughing at the shenanigans that the side characters were getting up to. There’s a perfect amount of suspense, romance, and comedy.

It’s eye opening.

This show asks questions of writers that I have never even considered before. There are moments where Kang Chul, interacts with his creator. Kang Chul has had a tragic life, and because of the author’s choices, he has had to deal with horrific situations. When Kang Chul asks why he had to create him like this, something inside me awakened. I realized that some of the choices I make in my own story writing could really destroy my character’s lives if they happened to find out they were just a fragment of a story instead of a real life person.

The acting is phenomenal.

The cast of this drama is incredibly talented. The actor who played the author of the story stood out more so than the rest of the cast for me. His character development really showcased the actor’s abilities. The actors who played Kang Chul and Yeon Joo were amazing as well. The talent of this cast is really out of this world.

You’re constantly wondering what in the world will happen next.

There are moments in this drama where you just don’t know how it’s going to resolve. Characters get pulled in and out of worlds at the worst possible moments and you find yourself sitting in your bed staring at the computer screen like, “What the heck just happened?!” for most of the show. It keeps you on your feet and by the time the episode comes to a close, you find yourself reaching for the next one because cliff hangers are just part of this drama’s set up.

Eye-candy Lee Jong Suk

If you’re more about the looks of the actors compared to the actual story-line (we’re all guilty of it, let’s be honest), this show won’t let you down. I’ll let these pictures convince you…

It’s a great way to diversify what you watch.

Recently, people have been more interested in watching and reading things that are outside their comfort zone and are more diverse that the typical Hollywood style content. By trying out W, you’ll be entering into a new culture and experiencing what is Korean entertainment. At first it may seem like you’re a bit out of your element, but trust me when I say that it’s all worth it. There are so many great shows made in different languages! If you’d like to take a step out of your comfort zone and try something new, try W, you won’t regret it….

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
