When I decided I wanted to go to Shippensburg University, I had many requirements for picking the perfect college. Shippensburg met all of those requirements, and today I still appreciate these things that make my college experience so much better. Here are 7 reasons why I appreciate Shippensburg University's campus.
1. The size of campus.
While SU is not a huge school, it's big enough that you don't necessarily see the same people every day. You're not just a number in a classroom lecture, instead your professors truly get to know your name.
2. The resources on campus.
We have amazing resources on campus, from the Ezra Lehman library, to having our own gym in the Ship Rec. SU promotes staying on your game whether it's in the classroom, or your own personal health.
3. Having both a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts.
What if you're feeling like Starbucks today and Dunkin tomorrow? Well at SU, you can have it both ways. This wasn't a requirement of mine, but it sure sealed the deal when it came to picking a college.
4. The scenery, especially in the fall.
SU has a good amount of trees on campus that turn a variety of different shades during the fall. It's a pretty sight to walk up near Old Main and see how nicely the fountain is decorated for all seasons.
5. The distance between classes.
The longest I've ever had to walk to get to class was roughly 6 minutes. At bigger schools, it takes way longer than that. At SU, all the buildings that hold classes are relatively close to one another, and the residence halls.
6. The variety of dining options.
Although having only two dining halls may seem like not a good variety, in addition to the dining halls we have places inside the Ceddia Union Building (CUB) to eat at. Not to mention in Kriner Dining hall we have a mini Papa John's and sub station.
7. The newly built Rail Trail.
SU is conveniently right next to the newly-built Rail Trail, which offers students a trail to take a nice stroll on. Whether you're riding a bike or taking a leisurely stroll, the Rail Trail is a great place to get away, while still remaining close to campus.
