Traveling is good for so many things. It can work wonders on your mind, soul, personality and can change everything you thought you knew about yourself. Whether your traveling 50 miles or 500 miles life and things can change, so going an extra mile could potentially mean learning something new. So, here are 7 Reasons to why you should travel.

1. Traveling opens your eyes.

Traveling shows you how others live, whether it be the culture, religion, food, or even climate. It can help you think about and do things that you have been putting aside. You become more aware of your situations and surroundings in your life, and become very in touch with yourself and who you are as a person.

2. Traveling helps you become more appreciative.

When you’re walking down a dirt road and see unhealthy men, women, and children laughing and smiling as they play with rocks or cook the little food they have, you soon start to realize how blessed you are. Watching how happy those children and adults are with the little that they have makes you so thankful for every little thing you have in your life.

3. Traveling enables you to escape from social media.

Though you may be documenting and constantly taking images of every little thing that interest you, you are more likely to put down your phone. When traveling, there’s always something new that you can do; you focus on new adventures instead having your face stuck in your phone.

5. You challenge yourself.

When you travel, you try new things, go outside of your shell, and think outside the box. Maybe try a new food or a new outfit, you never know you may like it. You become more in touch with yourself and can learn that you like certain things and dislike others.

6. You can make new friends.

Isn't that amazing? Imagine having a friend across the globe or just a state over! Either way, distance brings very much change, and your new friends may have a completely different lifestyle than you. Whether it be culture, religion, food, music, language, or even appearance—either way, you both can not only learn some things about your new pal but also learn some amazing things about one another’s life.

7. Get that "you" time you've been needing.

I don't know about you, but I tend to get very overwhelmed sometimes. What better way to calm down than go adventure alone and take a few deep breaths? "You" time slows you down. You aren't so quick to make decisions or jump to conclusions. Definitely a good time to give your hard working self a nice break, don't you think?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
