7 Reasons To Love Winter

Oh, how I’ve missed you

Now I am aware that a lot of people do not like winter, but for the people that love it, you have a special place in my heart. So here are a few reasons why everyone should put their hatred for winter aside, and enjoy it.

1. It’s Cold, Bundle up!

Okay so maybe the weather being -1 degree and your pipes being frozen is kind of horrible BUT, what a great excuse to bundle up at home with your family and watch a nice movie. It could be a Christmas movie, or just a good movie. Imagine spending the day at home with your family? Woah!

2. Layers!

This alone makes winter significantly better than other seasons. Fall is a close second because who wouldn’t want to just walk outside in a sweatshirt and a pair of leggings and be comfortable? Winter requires maybe two pairs of pants and three shirts, on top of a scarf hat, and gloves. But everyone else is wearing just as many layers as you are!

3. Holidays

Even though everyone doesn’t celebrate the same holidays, holidays are worth the cold. Due to mass amounts of people stuffing their faces and being too cold to go to the gym, it seems like the whole region, is in human hibernation. Nobody is worried about having a ‘beach body’ or looking good because there are no tight clothes and no one judges you for what you’re wearing because their only concern is staying warm.

4. Decorations

You cannot deny that driving down a street full of Christmas lights and animals in Santa hats does not light up your day. Seeing the joy in children’s faces as you explain how holidays work can bring the spirit of the holidays in any cold heart.

5. New Year

As cliché as it sounds, a new year begins and you can change. “New year, new me.” Even though it would be okay someone to just wake up and look at their flaws and decide to make a change, the idea of a new year encourages people to look at their life and reevaluate.

6. Snow

It’s cold and it gets everywhere BUT it’s pretty and looking out, seeing a sheet of white clean snow is one of the most beautiful things in the whole world. There are cute videos of dogs and kids playing and you can make snow angels and the good totally out-weighs the bad.

7. No School

Now depending on if you are a parent or a child, this can be interpreted differently. If you’re a parent, you get however long break is to spend quality time with your kids, take them away, play with them, get to know how they are, and then by the time you’re sick of them, they have to go back to school. If you’re a kid, sleep in, hang out with your friends and get to know who your parents are and enjoy break while it lasts because unfortunately, it doesn’t last forever.

Enjoy the season you are in and choose to look on the bright side because winter comes every year no matter how much you hate it. Bundle up and Have fun!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
