When people think of Iowa, they think of 3 things: farmers, corn, and potatoes. (Then they realize that we are Iowa, not Idaho.) Well, way up in the Northeast corner of the state, Iowa is much more than that. Here are 7 reasons why everyone has to love Northeast Iowa.
The seasons:
Being in Northeast Iowa, we really get to experience every season in the best way possible. We get the hot, humid summers, the beautiful, colorful falls, the snowy, cold winters and the wet, annoying springs.
The fresh air:
We don’t live in cities or really even close to one, so the fresh, Iowa air is amazing. Being from a small town surrounded by other small towns, we don’t have to worry about what kind of toxins we are going to breathe in next.
The gravel roads:
Nothing is better than a nice, little gravel travel every once in a while. We don’t need an interstate or major city to feel right at home, we have the beautiful countryside and gravels to make everything feel just right.
The people:
They say Iowa Nice is a real thing, but then you get to Northeast Iowa and it all makes sense. The people you meet are some of the sweetest around, always there to chat or to lend a helping hand.
The variety of things to do:
Being in the corner of the state, we have access to Minnesota and Wisconsin. Ever bored? We have such a wide variety of things that we can do in any season, and if we don’t have it in Northeast Iowa, we can just make a quick trip across the border and find something to do in one of our neighboring states.
Our county fairs:
This might seem like such a silly thing to pride ourselves on, but you can always count on the small towns of Northeast Iowa to put on a rockin’ county fair. Like hello, have you ever been to the Mighty Howard County Fair?
Quality sports programs:
One thing you can count on from any school in Northeast Iowa is seeing them down at the state tournament and making everyone notice who they are. Doesn’t matter what school, what sport, but you can always expect high level.
