7 Reasons To Join A Sorority That No One Ever Tells You

When you're in college, one of the hardest decisions can be whether to go greek or not. Sure you've heard all of the typical reasons that people use to get you to join; greeks generally having higher GPAs, the parties, and all of the philanthropic experience you will gain. As someone who has spouted out basically every stereotypical reason to get people to join a sorority, I'm now here to tell you the real perks, the ones that no one really talks about.

1. Rolling up squad deep to everything

You never have to worry about showing up alone to anything because you'll most likely have a group of at least 15 girls willing to go with you at any given time. This especially comes into play with parties, when the whole sorority wants to pregame it turns into a herd of 60 girls walking into the same party together with a tub of jungle juice. This is even true with classes, greek life isn't even dominant at my school but I can expect to have at least one sister in any class I sign up for. You can't even get lost at a bar because you'll always find someone you share letters with in the crowd.

2. Housing situations are never difficult

There's ALWAYS sister that needs a roommate or a house to live in. My sorority has at least 5 sister houses and they circulate throughout the years. If you're lucky enough to have a sorority house, it is probably the most fun place ever and you get to live with so many sisters. There are so many memories in these places and so many more to be made. Your letters are probably hanging on every wall of the house, and if you didn't feel srat before, you definitely do after living in one of these houses.

3. The group chat

My sorority uses the groupme app, and every time I check it there's something in it that makes me die laughing. There's absolutely no judgement for the embarrassing pictures of each other we share, and it's my key news source for anything that happens in my college town. You always know when froyo is buy one get one and when there's a deal on spray tans. God bless group chats.

4. Getting different perspectives on any situation or life decision

Life in college can throw some real problems your way but having so many sisters to ask for advice, you never get a biased answer. These girls come from all different walks of life with diverse experiences, someone has bound to have been in your shoes before and has some real gems of wisdom. You are never alone and you will ALWAYS find someone to talk to.

5. Multiple closets

You never have to worry about not having anything to wear out. Whether you need a blazer for a presentation or a dress for formal, your sisters have your back. Going out is so much easier when you have a variety of closets to find the perfect top in. This also comes in clutch for Halloween costumes and themed parties.

6. You have a team of built in academic advisers

There's always at least one girl in your sorority who has taken the exact same courses as you and is now out in the real world doing your dream job. You always have people to go to for advice on school. You know all the best professors and all of the easy a classes.

7. Pizza

Little known fact, your dues go to your food and alcohol too. Pizza is always at every important event and there's always jungle juice or a keg somewhere during mixers. If pizza isn't a good enough reason for you, then bye.

It doesn't matter if you go greek or not, but if you do join, I assure you that you won't regret it. College is only what you make of it, and choosing to spend your 4 years in a sisterhood sounds pretty good to me.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
