Mark your calendars for a holiday you want to celebrate: National Beer Day!
On March 22, 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Cullen-Harrison Act which became effective on April 7, 1933. This act repealed prohibition of beer. On April 7, 1933, people were able to buy, sell, and enjoy the ever-so-wonderful beer.
On April 7, 1993, Americans decided to begin the first celebration of National Beer Day by consuming 1.5 million barrels of beer. Let's keep the tradition going for the 24th straight year for these seven reasons.
1. April 7th falls on a Friday this year.
It's Friday, Friday, gotta drink beer on Friday. How can you not celebrate National Beer Day when it falls on a day that you are meant to have a cold one after a long week at work?
2. The options are endless.
Whether you want light, dark, red, wheat, or more, your options are truly endless on beer selection.
3. B vitamins out the wazoo.
You heard me right, you're getting vitamins from beer due to the yeast. These vitamins can help cells repair themselves and help prevent colon cancer.
4. Stress relief after a long week.
Drinking in moderation can reduce anxiety and stress. You can't tell me that after a long school or work week, putting down a few cold ones doesn't sound great. It's proven that moderate consumption of alcohol can reduce your risk of developing heart disease, reduce your risk of stroke, and reduce your risk of diabetes.
5. You will become a social butterfly.
We all know alcohol has the tendency to help us relax a bit and maybe open up more. Become the life of the party or at least let loose and talk to that cutie who caught your eye across the bar.
6. You will sleep like a baby.
Beer contains lactoflavin and nicotinic acid, which means you'll hit your pillow and count very few sheep before your knocked out.
7. Beer is wonderful.
If you don't like beer, I don't like you.
Cheers to enjoying your National Beer Day!
