I was only 11 when "Gossip Girl" came along. It is not a very appropriate thing for a pre-teen to watch because God knows what happened on "Gossip Girl." The first two seasons were mainly about a group of teenagers who display corrupted behavior towards a life of excessive partying, while trying to keep up the facade of the high society they live in and dealing with Gossip Girl herself (or himself). Sounds a bit too much, huh? Well, to a prepubescent kid that sounds great, which is why I have always imagine what it would feel like to be best friends with Chuck Bass. Then again, he was as bad as they come. However, seasons came and went, and the man who was the multi-millionaire changed -- the same man who may or may have not murder his father to inherit the company. As he changed, so did I; I started to admired him for different reasons. Behold the reasons why Chuck Bass will make an awesome best friend.
1. He understands one of the many facets of college degrees.
I take into account the values of a college degree. Then again, after you get such degree, it is not enough. You keep going to school until you get enough diplomas to say that you are qualified for something just to have it hang on your walls for eternity. It is an accessory in fact. The sole reminder of loans that you will have to pay until your grandchildren have grandchildren. Just kidding! Or am I? Point is, The Bass knows what he is talking about. He wants you to save money.
2. He exudes enough confidence for him and other people.
Chances are that Chuck Bass could make you a legend.
3. He knows when he steps out of line and when to be the bigger person.
We need more friends like him! Even if it's a bit over dramatic, it is nice to know that Chuck would do whatever it takes to make something work. Whether is in a friendship or relationship, he's a keeper.
4. Seriously, he's enlightened! Who wouldn't want his wisdom?
You get the idea. He's capable of looking out for the greater good.
5. He doesn't sugarcoat things. If he needs to shoot you with the truth, he will do it.
This is one of my favorite sayings from my platonic BFF. He just doesn't know we are best friends yet (insert stalking emoji here). To me, it is a reference to the world we live in now. It's empty. Chuck knows that what used to be held so dear, has been thrown out the window. The guy slept with his step-sister, for God's sake. As sad as it may seem, he knew to not be so full of illusions. Otherwise, he would end up disappointed. He knew to be real. He knew to survive in this world, you have to be as cynical as it.
6. He is no stranger to the love of pets.
He, like some of us, is a fan of replacing human contact with pets. Who doesn't love pets? When the love of your life runs off to marry a Monégasque prince, you stay with your dogs. Or cats. And, if lucky enough, your own penthouse.
7. He would make a great ally.
From taking down the gorgeous Georgina Sparks to getting married while being chased by the NYPD, this man has done it all. In the real life, this man would help you make the world yours. He would help you hide the body of those he annihilates with you. After all, he is Chuck Bass.
