I didn’t see "Finding Nemo" as soon as it came out when I was 6 years old, but I’ve watched it on DVD and TV about 4 million times growing up. It never gets old even though it’s really just about a bunch of talking, emotional, relational fish swimming across the ocean.
As an adult, I was rearing to see the sequel, "Finding Dory." I finally saw it, and I really want all of you to see it too, despite whether or not you’ve seen "Finding Nemo."
Believe me, it’s not just another animated film for kids. It’s memorable for all ages. Here's some reasons why:
1. You’ll die over how cute baby Dory’s face is
Just accept the fact that an animated fish’s face seems cuter than yours was as a baby.
2. You’ll be reliving your childhood when the plot catches up to when Marlin lost Nemo
It’s very weird seeing the beginning of that story from a different fish’s point of view.
3. It is not one of those dumb sequels that ruin your memories of the first movie
It’s a refreshing and emotional story with familiar characters, maybe even more emotional than the first one.
4. You’ll be feeling all the feels before the second half
I cried more at this movie than I have at most of Nicholas Sparks’ movies.
5. The new characters are insanely awesome
Like, they’re sea creatures. But I want to meet them in person. How do the writers even come up with these personalities? The animators did a sick job, too.
6. It’s hard to get bored watching the plot unfold
They mixed everything we like to watch into one movie: Comedy, suspense, drama, heart-racing adventure, and of course love.
7. You’ll actually learn some heartfelt lessons
Impairments are not weaknesses. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Family before all else. Face your fears, believe in yourself. Get to truly know someone, despite their differences.
Now that you have a feel for how sweet and unforgettable this movie is, go buy your tickets.
