7 Reasons Professor Snape Was The Best Character In The Harry Potter Movies

There are no words to describe the horrible loss of a great actor gone too soon. Alan Rickman was incredible both on stage and on the screen, and his legacy will never be forgotten. For many "Harry Potter" fans, this was a hard loss. I'm in no way limiting the scope of Mr. Rickman's work to the "Harry Potter" series, but as a devoted Potterhead I have to say that no one else could have brought such a dynamic character to life as well as he did. He created the perfect real-life representation of Snape. From his sass to his lovable and, frankly, heartbreaking last sequence in the movie, Alan Rickman brought one of the best characters to life and he, along with his talent, will be sorely missed.

1. His sass was undeniable

There's no denying it, Snape was the sassiest of characters. He didn't take shit from anyone, and he most definitely spoke his mind. Snape, may you always remain #flawless.

2. He kept the squad in check

Lets face it, come the fourth movie, those boys were getting a little big headed. He instilled a great amount of fear and, frankly, loathing in the boys way more than a fake Mad Eye Moody could (even if he did use the three unforgivable curses).

3. He tried to protect Harry's Mind

Honestly, thats some dedication. He literally agreed to risk his life to protect that of a baby he'd never met simply because he loved its mother. Snape's overall badass level went up to about 200 percent when it was finally revealed that he was a double agent. How clever do you have to be to fool Voldemort? I'd say pretty damn clever. Probably smarter than Harry seeing as he fell into Voldemort's traps a couple of times.

5. He provided comedic relief

This was more of a creative decision on Alan Rickman's part. The time it took his character to say certain things was added suspense and much needed comedic relief at times. I'm not sure if the comical aspect was intended, but I love the character choice and it only adds to Snape's layers.

6. He taught Harry important life lessons

He never shied away from the hard, cold truth. You can even see the pain in his eyes as he says this to Harry. And the oscar goes to... Alan Rickman for his portrayal of Snape in this scene.

7. Most importantly, he loved harder than anyone could possibly love.

"After all this time?" "Always." Rest in Piece Mr. Rickman, we will always remember you.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
