7 Reasons To Go Roommate-Less As A Senior In College

Roomies can be great, but senior year is the time to skip them.

So I realize that having a dorm room to yourself is a luxury that not everyone has access to.

Sometimes, you've just got to suck it up and share your space to help cut down on the obnoxious cost of college. But, if you can manage a room of your own for one year, make it your senior year.

Here's why:

1. Pretty Much Every Night Is An All-Nighter

If you've got a roommate (and you're not a total jackass) you probably feel the need to keep your all-nighters quiet and chill so that your roomie can get some sleep. In a room of your own, all-nighters can be the crazy sobfest they were meant to be. (Plus since it's not in the library, pants are optional.)

2. Pants Are Always Optional

Having to wear clothes all the time is one of the worst things about having a roommate, to be honest. With all the stress that senior year brings, going pants-less (and whatever else-less) whenever you go home to the dorm is a great way to stress less.

3. No Judgment When You Talk To Yourself

Senior year requires a lot of pep talks. Most of those pep talks will likely be a monologue/one person show. With no roomie, no one will be there to judge your long-winded, upbeat, self-motivation.

4. The Space

By senior year, you've likely accumulated even more crap than you dragged into your first dorm freshman year. Years of college living and friends and projects and textbooks you can't sell back makes tiny dorms even tinier, and living with someone else even messier.

5. The Freedom To Let Your Slob Flag Fly

In a roommate situation, a certain amount of cleanliness is typically expected from both parties. If you manage to be by yourself, you just have to keep things clean enough that no weird smells bring the RA's to your door. The bi-monthly shame walks to the trash room or to the kitchen to wash your hoard of dishes are a senior year tradition in my opinion.

6. Having Guests Over Whenever

Whether your guests are of the platonic or not-so-platonic variety, there's no need to plan their arrival and stay around your roomie's schedule No sock on the door or awkward conversations!

7. You've Earned It

Let's not pretend college is anything less than one of the most intense experiences you've likely had to date. The pressure to get good grades on top of being super involved on campus and find a job and keep your friends and decide what the hell you're doing after graduation and find the perfect graduation outfit and remember to invite everyone to commencement and figure out how you and your best friends (who are undoubtedly moving to the farthest corners of the world) will stay in touch after graduation is incredibly overwhelming. You're almost done and if ever there was a time you needed the space to breathe, it's this year.

No matter what your dorm situation this year, congratulations on making it to this point. You are a boss, you're almost there, and you've got this! Let's go, Class of 2017!

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

College is a great place to meet people, especially through Greek life. If you look closely at sororities, you'll quickly see there are many different types of girls you will meet.

1. The Legacy.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
