7 Reasons Why You Need To Find A Core Group Of Friends In College

College can be pretty brutal sometimes. We can all relate to the hours and hours of mind numbing homework that causes us to get all of .2 hours of sleep each night, the professors who drive us crazy, and the times you can not help but think "maybe working at McDonald's for the rest of my life wouldn't be so bad after all." Times like these are times that we need support. We need our people. We need friends.

1. They let you know when your outfit is not quite up to par.

The last thing you need as a freshman girl is to have a fashion mishap happen for all of campus to see. It's good to know that your girls always have your back when it comes to your outfit.

2. They make you do your homework because you're a terrible procrastinator.

They know how badly you want to quit but they also know how much you want to succeed. They push you through those 12am papers and last minute cram sessions because they know your dreams and they want you to see you accomplish them.

3. You are never alone no matter how hard you try.

As much as I loved my alone time in high school, I could not imagine spending any time alone now. Every time I come back from class, work, the dining hall, or pretty much anywhere, I can always count on there being at least two people in my room who DON'T actually live there.

4. They do crazy things with you like canoe 20 miles in the pouring rain.

"Go canoeing with us," she said, "It will be fun," she said. That is something I will never do ever again, but I would not have wanted to go through it with anyone else.

5. They make you laugh until you cry (or snort).

I love being with these girls because not only are they hilarious, but they actually think that I am hilarious, too, and that's what really matters here. My jokes just simply can not go to waste.

6. They will let you know if the boy you're interested in is a no or a go.

Your close friends at college pick up the job of your gals back home and will not let you even think about dating someone they do not 100% don't approve of. Enough said.

7. They love you for who you are.

Bottom line, college wouldn't be the same, or quite as enjoyable, without these girls by my side. I love each and every laugh, meal, movie night, cram session, and mental breakdown, and even the occasional run around campus. I love you guys and thank you for being my people.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
