Going home, especially for the summer, makes you appreciate where you come from. At school, you are limited to life on campus and what it has to offer. Although school can be fun and has the perk of freedom, there is truly no place like home.
1. Being in your own bed.
Not going to lie, my bed at school was incredibly comfortable. However, there is nothing better than laying down in your bed when you come home after months of being apart at school.
2. The best part about going home.
The hardest part about going off to school was leaving my furry friend behind for so long. Every time I went home, he would not leave my side. Walking through the doors and seeing them stare at you with pure excitement makes coming home so great.
3. Real food.
Dining hall food may be convenient but there is nothing like a home cooked meal when coming home from college.
4. Shower shoes are a thing of the past.
Getting to take a shower without shower shoes on is one of the greatest feelings. Being able to take your time and not get dressed while still dripping wet are perks of showering at home as well.
5. Reunited with high school pals.
Being back with your squad and feeling like nothing has changed. You gossip about so-and-so's new boyfriend and how the high school relationships didn't last the first semester at school. You missed each other through the year, but are so thankful to have them back for the whole summer.
6. You never realized how much you love your car.
Your car never judges you and accepts your bad singing. It gets you where you want to go, keeping you safe the whole way. Not having your car easily accessible at school makes it that much more important and valuable when you come home.
7. Summer jobs.
We want summer to be full of joy and adventures, but I guess money is cool too. Summer jobs are an essential for college students.
I may have only come home a week ago, but I can already see how amazing it is to be home and how much I actually missed my hometown. I can't wait for summer to get underway and face all the adventure it has to offer.
