I needed a new show to watch and someone told me to watch Game of Thrones. I looked it up online and watched some trailers and thought this looks kind of weird. I watched the first couple episodes and still wasn't sure about it. I decided to keep watching and give it a chance. When I started watching it, there had already been four seasons and I finished them all in almost a month. I loved it and couldn't get enough. I counted down the days until the next season. These are the reasons I love this show.
1) Strong Female Characters.
More often than not, men are the strong figures in movies and television shows. In Game of Thrones, there are a number of fierce, strong women whether their intentions are good or bad. Being a woman, I personally love this aspect of the show. There's Arya Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Sansa Stark, Ygritte and many more. They all just kick butt.
2) Daenerys Targaryen.
So I know I've already mentioned strong female character but I had to give the Khaleesi her own bullet point. She's my absolute favorite on the show. I even named my cat Khaleesi. To me, she's the strongest of all the women on the show. She is a queen that has her own army, can walk through fire and has dragons. She's my woman crush for sure.
3) The Hunky Men.
For example:
John Snow
Robb Stark
Khal Drogo
I think the pictures get this point across.
5) The Feels.
You get emotionally attached to the characters. However, you can't get too attached because something can happen to your favorite character at any moment. It keeps you on the edge of your chair because you never know what's going to happen. It's extremely emotional if something does happen. Especially if there's a huge question at the end of the episode about whether or not something happened to the character. It causes you stress until the next episode. Then, there are the times when something actually does happen and you're thinking OMG I'm never watching this show again but you end up watching it again.
6) The Fantasy.
There are a lot of mythical creatures. There are dragons, the white-walkers, giants, mammoths, direwolves. The white-walkers are pretty much like zombies. There's magic too, ike witchcraft and resurrections. I've never been into fantasy and mythical genres but it's compelling in this show.
7) The Complexity.
There are new characters introduced in almost every episode. However, the characters that are significant to the story are well developed. They are always undergoing something new and most of them change for the better or for the worse. This is also seen in the plot. If you think you have finally figured something out, you're proven wrong. It's what keeps the story interesting.
