7 Reasons Group Projects Are The Absolute Worst

Please don't make me work with other people.

Let me just say, the worst thing about college has to be the group projects. It's bad enough you have to find time to meet outside of class and then you have to get up, in front of everyone, and show them what you've done. It's an absolute nightmare. You rarely get lucky with a group that is completely aware and cooperative and I have yet to get one of those. It's just a time of stress and anxiety and I know what the professors say, "It's good to work with new people and branch out." Well, I have yet to come together with people and later become good friends with them. I know there is nothing I can do about them but I need to stop caring so much when other people clearly don't. But I don't see that happening.

1. No one EVER has the same schedule.

It is close to impossible to be in a group where everyone can meet at one time because of class, work, and laziness.

2. People don't know how to answer their phones.

Come on, everyone carries their phones around with them and are glued to them 24/7. However, the group chat for a project seems to mean nothing and makes it SO hard to communicate.

3. The division of work is never equal.

There is always one or two people who put in ten times more effort than the others but we still get the same grade. I don't know in what world this is fair but here we are.

4. The professor doesn't seem to care.

If you are having a hard time with your group members it only makes sense to talk to your professor about it. They say they are "here to help" but when you actually ask for it, they tell you to "work it out." Thanks for keeping your word.

5. They seem to always be put together last minute.

You could have weeks and weeks to prepare but, somehow, the day before seems like the perfect time to do it. This is when no one can meet and no one cares so it only makes sense, right?

6. It's an extra pile of stress.

Next to having forty other assignments to do within the next week, the job of having to meet with your group mates and get the work done seems to become the top priority.

7. They never end.

All and all, I would say that doing group projects over the last two years of college has to be one of the worst parts. I have many more to come and I am already dreading them. Help.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
