I started Gilmore Girls after a few close friends of mine recommended it for weeks. I kept saying that I was too busy but after their resilient persuading, I thought I would give it a try. Thirty one days and one hundred and 54 episodes later I can confirm to you that it is one hundred percent worth all of the hype that it's given and so much more. Here's why.

1. Rory Gilmore is completely and shamelessly herself and nothing less.

From the very first episode, Rory is seen as a bright, motivated student with a drive to be a journalist and a love for her mom, her town, and her books. Despite a few challenges she endures, we still see Rory in the final episode pursuing her dreams, with all of her friends and family still encouraging her. She is the perfect example of a girl who sees what she want and goes after it, just like her mom.

2. Lorelai Gilmore showed us all what it's like to endure hardships and still come out on top.

Regardless of what people may say, Lorelai Gilmore did something many would have thought to be impossible: she raised a brilliant, Ivy-bound daughter all by herself while still keeping up with her own life. Even with having Rory, she still opened up her own Inn and maintained the same wit and charm that she always had.

3. The relationship between Rory and her mom.

Yes, they did get in that really big fight and not speak for a little while. Aside from that, though, Lorelai and Rory have a fantastic mother-daughter relationship. Lorelai always supported and encouraged Rory, and Rory always had an endless amount of respect for her mom. Their relationship was what every girl wants to have with her mom; from junk food and movie nights to sobbing on the bathroom floor, Rory and Lorelai went through it all together.

4. Sookie St. James

It's not possible to talk about Gilmore Girls without talking about all of the beauty and comedy that is Sookie. As Lorelei's best friend, she is always there for her, no matter how huge her dilemma. Even after crafting her a beautiful wedding cake, she still didn't make Lorelei feel guilty for calling off her engagement. Even though they occasionally fought, Sookie always had Lorelei's back.

5. Sookie and Jackson's Relationship

Whether you're team Logan, Dean, or Jess, we can all agree there's one couple we don't have to argue about: Sookie and Jackson. By being the most reliable, loving, and committed couple on the show, Sookie and Jackson showed us all what it's like to have a solid, healthy relationship.

6. The coffee addiction of the Gilmores.

As long as you're a coffee drinker, you'll find the addiction to coffee by the Gilmore Girls hilarious and relatable. We've all been there: waking up late and needing our morning pick-me-up. But the Gilmore Girls, they take it to a whole new level. The amount of coffee drank alone in the show made it worth watching to me.

7. Luke Danes

Everything about Luke made Gilmore Girls about a thousand times better. There wasn't an episode where Luke didn't make me laugh. The amount that he cares about Rory and Lorelai is enough to tear at the heart strings. Even though Christopher wasn't very good at being a father, viewers could always count on Luke to show up at all of Rory's important life events with gifts and an endless amount of love and support.

Without a doubt, Gilmore Girls is one of the most amusing, refreshing, and relatable shows I've ever watched, and I cannot wait for the revival coming up in November.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
