We all binge watch shows on Netflix every now and then. This year I stumbled upon a show that is now one of my all time favorites: "Gilmore Girls". Here are seven reasons (even though there are many more) why "Gilmore Girls" is definitely one of the best shows of all time.
1. The Mother/Daughter Relationship
Rory and Lorelai have a relationship like no other. They are so close because it has just been the two of them together since Rory was born. Between talking about boys to doing absolutely everything together they really are best friends. Watching movies together and eating leftovers is so much better than "partying with the homies" (even though they are each others homies).
2. All the COFFEE
I liked coffee before this show, but after I watched it the obsession was brought to a whole new level. Coffee at least once a day is a must for them and almost every scene seems to have a little caffeine mixed in. And again part of Lorelai and Rory's great relationship is built on drinking coffee
3. Lorelai and Luke's relationship
Luke and Lorelai have been friends for a long time. He is a serious guy who owns a diner and she is a spontaneous young entrepreneur/mom with a coffee obsession. He is always there for her when she needs him and she is always there to make him blush. Their playful banter and quick wit is one of the best parts of the show. I'm just saying that when they got together it made my day/year/life.
4. The Overbearing Grandparents
Lorelai's parents, Richard and Emily Gilmore, always seem to get into her and Rory's lives. Since they haven't always been there for them, they overcompensate when is comes to parenting and being grandparents. When Lorelai does not have enough money to pay for Rory's tuition Emily agrees to pay it if they come over every Friday for dinner. Friday night dinners are a must in their household and Rory and Lorelai better not miss one. They get caught up in things that don't matter at times, but always have the girls best interest in mind. They add humor to the show even though it is not always fun for Lorelai.
5. Rory's Transition to College
Rory went through a lot in her college years. She ended up loving the university she did not plan on going to and was one of the best writers in the on the paper there. She wasn't quite ready to leave her mom just yet when she dropped her off on move-in day. Lorelai came back and ended up staying the night, but after that Rory rocked the whole college thing. As I go to college I plan to channel my inner Rory and enjoy ever minute of it.
6. Rory's Love of Reading and Writing
Not many people are into reading anymore because of all the other forms of entertainment we have, but Rory read all the time. She was reading a different book almost every episode and sometimes she read multiple books in one episode. She also loved to write and was really good at it. She did not let anyone hold her back from her pursuing journalism and was super successful at it. She went on the campaign trail for crying out loud, she had to have talent in writing!
7. The Upcoming "Gilmore Girls" Revival!!
I am so super excited about the "Gilmore Girls" revival and can't wait to see where the coffee drinking mom and daughter duo are now. So catch up! Watch every season so you can be obsessed and excited too.
