I was walking to class the other day and it hit me. A breeze. A cool, short burst of air that felt so glorious because I forgot what that felt like.
That breeze reminded me of what was around the corner. Fall, autumn, pumpin-spice season—whatever you call it—it’s almost that time of the year. That’s right friends, we are so close to that wonderful time of year. Honestly, all other seasons fail in comparison. I’m willing to argue over this, but here's why fall is the best.
1. The Holidays
With Halloween and Thanksgiving, fall is kind of winning the holiday game. Winter pulls a close second, but ultimately, I don’t freeze my butt off when walking outside for fall holidays. Plus, through all of October, I have something to watch. There’s endless scary movies on and Disney is playing Halloweentown, so all is right with the world.
2. The Clothing
I can finally wear boots, sweaters, and endless flannel again. Sandals and shorts are great, but are they really better than fuzzy socks and cute boots?
3. Pumpkins. Pumpkins everywhere.
Pumpkins are amazing. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin cheesecake (yeah, that’s a thing), pumpkin muffins, pumpkin scented candles—I could go on forever. And Bath and Body Works is pretty much a haven for all things pumpkin-scented and, you know what, I’m okay with that.
4. The good shows are back
I won’t lie—summer has some great television. But I live for the days of fall TV. All the best shows go off hiatus and I finally have my favorite shows back on (I’m looking at you, TGIT).
5. FOOTBALL
As a student of a school where football is very important, I yearn for football season most of the year. Football is a great time to support your favorite teams, spend time with friends and family, and talk trash when your team wins. All in all, it’s a great time. And did I mention
6. The Weather
Sweating is annoying, humidity is gross, and heat is a pain. All reasons why spring and summer really suck. And in winter, the air is brisk, freezing, and makes your lips chapped within two seconds of being outside. Fall, on the other hand, is a nice temperate season, where the weather doesn’t hate you.
7. Good vibes
The overall feeling of this time of the year is simply better than the others. The time changes so we get an extra hour of sleep, the holidays are quickly approaching, there are breaks for the holidays, and people overall seem to be in a better mood. And, frankly, that's enough to make fall the best time of the year.
