7 Reasons Why Cristina Yang Should Be Your Role Model

Everyone has their own favorite "Grey's Anatomy" character. After 11 seasons, there's bound to be one personality that stands out among the rest. Whether you're a Karev fan or you find Callie most relatable, there's never a bad time to take after Cristina Yang. With her hilarious personality and unquestionable ambition, there are seven really important reasons why Cristina Yang should be your role model.

She values her knowledge. We all remember the famous lines from Yang: "Oh, screw beautiful. I'm brilliant!" You'll never catch her caring about the outside of her body more than her brain. She values every chance she gets to learn and experience new things. She'll get competitive in order to gain the opportunity to learn. She's smart and she knows it. She's not afraid to ask to be appreciated where it really matters.

She's not afraid to be herself. Yang is incredibly blunt. While her mouth can sometimes get her in trouble, you won't find her being dishonest about who she is. She'll give you her real opinion and she's not afraid to tell you how she really feels about something. Right or wrong, she's always voicing her opinions without a second thought.

She has confidence. She doesn't need anyone to affirm how she feels about herself. She doesn't need the approval of a man or a gaggle of girls in order to feel confident. Confidence radiates from her constantly, no matter what area of her life you are examining. Though she prefers to be complimented on her brains, she knows she's not lacking in other areas either.

She's relatable. Though she's a perfectionist when it comes to surgery, Yang is not a perfect person. She's a slob at home. She gets tired. She loves to stuff her face with food and take a big nap just like everyone else. Though Yang is often portrayed as an expert surgeon and a hero in the hospital, she's a reminder that everyone has off days where they're sad or too lazy to move. She reminds us that having those days doesn't set us back for life.

She deals with stress well. As a cardio surgeon, there are plenty of stressful and chaotic situations that erupt in Yang's life every day. Instead of bottling the stress up or releasing it in destructive ways, Yang deals with the stress in the healthiest way possible -- dancing it out with her best friend!

She's hilarious. Whether she's trying or not, Yang is forever making comments that will make you choke on your popcorn. She's sarcastic and witty and has a "take-no-crap" attitude. She doesn't sugar coat anything. While her crazy and goofy side definitely gathers the laughs, its her sly comments that she cracks that really get your gut busting.

She's the best friend you could ever have. She'll look out for you and always have your back. She'll offer to take care of your kids even though she can't stand children. She'll crawl in bed with you at 2 a.m. when you're feeling sad just to be a shoulder to cry on. And most importantly, she'll never let you forget how much you're worth.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
