Sometimes being a commuter student is looked down upon because we miss out on the “dorm experience." Here’s why it is actually a blessing in disguise.
1. Homemade Food
After a long day at school, it is so refreshing to come home to mom’s homemade spaghetti.
2. You have your own bathroom and bedroom
Although roommates can be fun, we all know that isn’t always the case. Coming home to your own room and a shower with only YOUR hair is relieving. It's also nice to have a shower that can cater to your ultimate bath needs.
3. It’s cheaper
Living in a small room with one or two other people for a ridiculously overpriced amount isn’t worth it when your home is a fifteen minute drive away.
4. It's peaceful.
Occasionally a family feud may go down, but living at home means no random fire alarms, no loud music, no loud construction or sprinklers in the middle of the night.
5. You can get your “alone” time.
After a full day of seeing friends, classmates and paying attention to lectures, it’s so nice to come home to an empty room that is for me, myself and I. A little time alone, please!
6. Your family is the true support system
A big transition factor to adjusting to college is getting homesick. Being a commuter, it’s crucial to find the space between your life and your family’s life.. But the minute you have a mental breakdown, mom isn’t a phone call away… she’s 10 feet away.
7. You have a car
Obvious, but we literally have the key to freedom and mobility.
