Being a cat mom to my kitty kid has made my life so much better. Dogs are okay, but I will always choose cats over them. (Except the cats without hair, because that's just weird.) Don't get me wrong, it's not that I hate people, I just don't like dealing with most of them. Coming home to a fur-ever friend makes it all worthwhile.

1) He doesn't talk.

Aside from the typical meowing, we don't chat too much. That means I don't have to hear ignorant/annoying/rude comments. Voting for Hillary or Trump? Neither, because he can't vote! It's beautiful.

2) He's always down for naps.

Being a college student means that naps are my life. What could be better than climbing into your bed and cuddling up with a fuzzy little ball of warmth? Nothing. The answer is nothing.

3) He's an independent white kitty who doesn't need a (hu)man.

My cat isn't going to hang around you if he doesn't like you. He'll walk away carelessly or go outside to harass the neighborhood squirrels. We know we can leave him alone for hours at a time and he'll entertain himself.

4) I can use Snapchat filters on his face without being called out.

You can't just go up to a random person and take pictures of their face, even if you know them. The person will definitely think you're insane and might actually tell you that. My cat doesn't really care. He has no girl cat to impress since I got him fixed.

5) He's literally the cutest.

One of my favorite things is watching him sleep, because his mouth does the little kitty smile thing and it melts my ice-cold heart.

6) He lets me dress him up... sometimes.

When someone says they don't like cats, I just wonder to myself if they've ever seen a cat dressed up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Also, you're welcome.

7) He likes food as much as I do.

I will never be judged by my cat for eating at one in the morning, as long as I break off pieces for him too. So basically, he's helping me avoid weight gain by portion control.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
