The WB

1. No Vampire/Demon/Monster is a Match for Her

Sure, she has those moments where it seems like the Big Bad of the Week (or the Season) might out wit her, but in the end, Buffy's always triumphant.

2. She's the Queen of Puns and Witty One-Liners

Not only can she defeat every creature that comes her way, but she does so while making hilarious one-liners and clever puns. Because no one realizes the ridiculousness and absurdity of her life as the Slayer more than Buffy Summers.

3. She's Willing to Make Huge Sacrifices for the Greater Good

Whether it be killing the man she loves to stop the world from ending or sacrificing her own life to, well, stop the world from ending, she's no stranger to having to make big sacrifices for humanity's sake. And while each decision leads to heartbreak and a lot of tears, she faces them with extreme strength and never regrets making them.

4. Her Friends and Family are Her Number One Priorities

When it comes to life, there's nothing more important to Buffy than those she loves. She would do absolutely anything for her friends and family and constantly puts herself in harm's way to keep them safe.

5. Not Even Death Can Stop Her

Buffy's no stranger to death (having died twice by the show's end), but something as mundane as her heart not beating isn't enough to keep this Slayer from kicking ass. Both times she finds a way to get out of her predicament and get back into the real world to keep showing bad guys what's up.

6. She's Had Some Rough Experiences but Always Bounces Back

Throughout the course of the series, Buffy deals with a lot of trauma and has to overcome the deaths of loved ones, extreme heartbreak, and life on the hellish Earth after existing in a perfect afterlife. But despite how tough her life gets and how much pain she's put through, she always manages to find the emotional strength to pull through and keep living in the face of pain and depression.

7. She Maintains Extreme Femininity While Being a Total Bad Ass

Too often female characters who are strong and in positions of power are portrayed as overtly masculine, as society often associates both strength and power with masculinity. Buffy Summers, however, is all about being feminine. She wears mini skirts and pretty dresses, always has her hair and makeup perfectly done, and has probably the most nonthreatening and feminine name in recorded history. Yet none of that stops her from being able to drive a stake through any vampire's heart or to save the world from any insane creature that crosses her path. Buffy Summers is a complete and total bad ass, and she does it all while looking like a complete and total goddess. If that doesn't show you how perfect she is, I don't know what will.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
