Going to a bookstore is one of the most comforting and pleasant things a person can do. Between the books, the coffee and the countless other book enthusiasts, you are bound to find something to love about spending your time in one. Here are seven reasons you need to get yourself to a bookstore:
1. Even if you aren't a big reader, bookstores are so aesthetically pleasing.
The endless rows of books, whether they be neatly organized and crisp at your local Barnes and Noble or in the best kind of disarray at a secondhand bookstore are just dandy to look at- unlike the train wreck your life really is outside the safety of your favorite bookstore.
2. Nostalgic encounters with your childhood favorites are a surefire way to warm your heart.
It's always nice to revisit old favorites at the bookstore, whether you already own a copy or not. Sometimes it's hard to grasp the fact that your life continues on and your favorite stories come to an end. Flipping through the adventures of the characters who you invested your heart in is familiar and soothing.
3. There's literally something for everyone.
From "Sense and Sensibility" to "A History of the Noose", there's something for everyone's interests.
4. Coffee.
Bookstores and coffee go together like peas and carrots. What better form of leisure is there than a nice chai tea latte and a new novel to read by the fire? It's about to start snowing outside, guys — I'm not trying to be at the bars in subarctic conditions.
5. Peace and Quiet.
It's an unspoken law that you keep your voices to a low murmur and respect everyone's right to a peacefully calm afternoon at the bookstore. Barring the occasional screaming child heard throughout the whole building, you're guaranteed some quiet time to find yourself some A1 content.
6. New Friends.
By new friends, I mean new fictional characters to fall in love with or historical figures long gone that you can't help but wish you'd been around. If you're a true book lover, you know that it's important to stick by your favorite character's side through all of the ups and downs. My "Neverending Story" fans out there know just what I mean. It's an intense relationship, and every book presents a new one or the opportunity for an old one to grow.
7. So. Much. Knowledge.
Okay seriously. Have you ever looked around a bookstore and tried to imagine just how much is bound in the spines of each and every beautiful book? Someone's heart and soul is held in those pages, and there are hundreds, even thousands of souls located in the walls of every bookstore. Each book is person, and it contains their knowledge and their passions and their life's work. It's not something book lover's take lightly and it's infinitely fulfilling to the soul.
